I agree however I have seen a few of these out in the wild (Supermarket car parks when I am forced away from Waitrose) and you can normally tell they are fake / replica wheels. Most seem to be pinched OZ wheels with Ferrari center caps. The police would certainly get suspicious if they saw a genuine £6K set of wheels on a £2K car.

Could even be worth looking at the PH ads smile
Yes there are replicas out there but there is also a strong market for genuine Bentley, Porsche, Lamborghini and Ferrari etc rims.

The market value of the rims, stolen or otherwise is nothing like £6k (presumably that's a new from dealer price) and I'd be frankly amazed if the average police officer or even traffic officer would even give a car fitted with them a second glance.

I've heard of more than a few exotic 'hire cars' that have had their wheels mysteriously disappear a few hours after they have been leased out. The insurances excess is a damn sight less than actually buying them.

Thanks Jonny, have replied to your PM.

Fortunately my car insurance is paying out in full for my wheels & tyres and therefore I will simply forward this link to the police and leave it to them. What more can I do as the wheels were not security marked and I actually suspect these aren't them as they do look brand new in the photos rather than mint condition used as mine were?

This means I will also be getting 4 brand new summer tyres all at once. Therefore tempted to change over to Michelin Pilot Super Sports as some have recommended. My main dealer has tried to discourage this saying the DSC is not calibrated to them etc etc but just wondered how strongly those that have tried them feel and in exactly what ways they are better and perhaps if they are worse in any way?

Like I've just said in my email, your dealer (oooh, oooh, please name them!) is talking out of their rear. The DSC will have no problems at all with the increased grip and feel from the PSSs.

Just remind them that PSS are now the OEM fitment for the GT12.

Definitely go the Michelins, I changed mine out a while back. Best thing I ever did, more grip wet and dry, ride a lot smoother. The jarring and sharp bumps when going over broken roads or pavement gaps is greatly reduced. You won't regret it.

+1 exactly what he said... also have a 5mm rubber rim protection projection to save your alloys if you get close to a curb parking... though I feel they wear faster - 6000miles in and I'm down to 5m tread on my worst one. But still well worth it as the rim projection has saved me more than the cost of the tyre by now.

Might they have been about 6 or 7mm when new?
If so, you should reach 15,000 miles, which equals my original Bridgestones.

Please don't say I should be taking the corners faster. smile

Only just spotted this but as your local AMOC Area Rep, I'm more than happy to pass this out to our members as a "heads up" if you like. Not sure where in Derbyshire you are but it is probably worth asking the surrounding AMOC areas to warn their members so I can forward something to them too.

Drop me an email at area3@amoc.org ....
