Bought a V8 Vantage!
Discussion
How did someone buying the car they want lead into 2 people telling them about the V12V? Start saving, don't drive one...
Congratulations OP, enjoy the car you chose to buy, I had 2 fantastic years driving a V8V, it is a cracking car.
If you do feel a need for a little more power further down the line I recommend the BR treatment.
The V12V love in is getting a touch OTT. And I own one!

Tbh I think its sound advice. I had a 4.7 for 18 months and absolutely loved it, took it around Europe, one of the best cars I've ever owned. Saying, "don't drive the V12" is no smite to the V8, it is probably the biggest compliment; it's saying "you'll love your new car, if you do ever get itchy feet there is an option for more power".
I don't think any of the V8 -> V12 guys have ever remembered the V8 as a bad car. It is probably the most sensible advice on this board, it ends up costing a small fortune

I don't know the OP, so have no idea of his/her situation. However, there are a lot of people in this world that might not be able to drop £80k plus on a car. Most can't do the £30k - £35k the OP has splashed out. The fact there is an option for more power doesn't mean it's available for many reasons.
Again, I have no idea, the OP might have millions in the bank and is warming up to a GT12 or something.
I know we all joke about the training bra etc, but I just don't think the place for V12V love is in a thread about someone's new p&j that happens to be a V8V. A car many will dream of owning and never achieve.
I think the point is, the OP has just bought a lovely v8 vantage, in the 30-35k bracket, banging on about how an £85k car is better is rather tedious, there are (numerous) other threads discussing the doubtless wonderful v12 vantage.
Anyway, congrats, looks a lovely example, i've had my early v8 vantage for 3 years now, its been fantastic.

I would have to agree I loved the drive of both my V8 and the V8S and the sense of occasion they impart is probably why so many of us set our hearts on having one.
From the first drawings I saw of the Vantage I knew I wanted to have one at some point, it was and in my eyes remains such a gorgeous looking car.
Lets be honest as well the 4.3 has more than enough performance for real world driving on the road, in reality it probably has more power than 99% of drivers will ever experience. That sound is glorious and the interior is a beautiful thing to be sat in.
I am sure that the OP will have many years of enjoyable motoring in what looks to be lovely example.
I can't remember has he been corralled into attending Burghley yet, if not in between your grin inducing drives get yourself signed up sir.

V12's......you know its to make up for other inadequacies of the owner! Its true i tell yer!
Us V8 owners are more light footed and not prefer the loud and shoutiness of those brutes!
But as i said before, apart from other Petrolheads, to the common layman we drive "that nice Aston Martin".
Of course ill never sit in a V12 for various reasons!!!

You leave our PERCEIVED inadequacies out of this Us V8 owners are more light footed and not prefer the loud and shoutiness of those brutes!

Haha, I do enjoy the v8/v12 banter in here. The reality is that the 4.7 was out of budget, and the v12 was in another world. The 4.3 isn't ballistic, but I didn't buy it for outright speed (I don't think there's any real difference between it and my e46 M3). It's a great little package which looks and sounds fantastic, is built brilliantly, and a total event to drive. Let's face it, we'd be driving F10 M5s and GTRs if we were really serious about outright performance!
The V12 is something really special- I won't ever drive one for the same reason I'll never drive a CSL .

Hi to the OP.
I've been in the same predicament as yourself for a few years now. I also was looking at the prices back in 2011/12 and wondering if i bought one, in 3-4 years time would the depreciation be too much to bear. As we now know the prices have firmed up and even risen slightly and it is becoming an uncontrollable itch i would like to scratch. My only concern is it would only be used about once a week, the indecision is killing me!
Fantastic looking example NickXX, really like those seats.
Happy motoring.

Midweek for me is work and the Diesel estate. So when the Aston comes out on the weekend its a mini event Keeping mileage off them is prudent but very boring (especially given the cost of just having it sitting in the garage, doing nothing). And then summer comes and it all goes out the window and I call the insurance company begging them to add another 2000 miles to the policy's 5000 annual mileage allowance. That's the 'bug' and its all good My only concern is it would only be used about once a week, the indecision is killing me!
Congrats on a great buy OP! Lovely car.
