I saw in the flesh today and am very happy.
Discussed low console - definitely thought better than high if going manual but no pics.
Adam thats £ 700 towards your paint unless u get it covered in alcantara ?
1/2 Cage is definitely a dealer option but didn't ask price - sorry - I can find out obviously.
The " new " annodised black calipers look really good as standard and was pleasantly surprised.
Wheels -didnt have any standard ones to look at but had decided on the satin black 7 spokes ( non centre locks ) already- they are the standard ones from the GT12 which we looked at afterwards.
Exhaust - I was allowed to fire it up and the noise ( closed room ) is simply epic and the pops post lift off even more so BUT a question - will the Stainless one sound the same as I suspect it wont even though I was informed it should.Anyone on here with experience of either?
Dont want to get this option wrong although it seems a fair few have already ticked the stainless default.
However irrespective - very very pleased.

Anyone had any thoughts on paint colours? I'm kind of finding it easier to rule colours out than rule them in; not really a fan of any of the three 'halo' schemes so its got to be something different, not grey/silver (albeit it might look good in those). Would imagine it would look very mean (read: aggressive) in black but then that would hide the lines. I was thinking maybe one of the oranges, or possibly even blue?

Rob , any thoughts?! Only thinking about this literally every day since I put down my deposit.
All I am saying at this stage is I will be going for a single colour with no halo / accents ( ish ) and a colour that is pretty unique to Astons.
Its only because of the lines and the car itself that Im going brave -certainly wouldnt as a daily.
Btw the interior is also much better in the flesh than any stills or videos I saw previously.

I agree on the Halos, not convinced on those, especially for >£12k!

You guys suggesting few of us opted for the stainless steel exhaust as opposed to the Titanium one? You raised a valid point re sound (I was expecting it will be different, though), obviously there is a decent weight saving too

WIll you guys consider the CF exposed with Accent? what do you think? Really tough choice re. color!

I'm definitely going for the Titanium exhaust:

1. The sound the car made was epic, don't want to risk it not being right
2. The weight saving is actually pretty good
3. I feel the Titanium exhaust is one of the four elements that distinguish the GT8 from a standard car (the wider CF body, the aero-pack, the exhaust and the alcantara interior).

Colours. What I really need is a crash course in photo-shop smile

Sure, I believe the roll cage is a dealer-fit option so maybe your dealer knows about it? Will ask to see if they have a design at the factory and let you know
Haven't seen both harness or fire extinguisher in the options too, though
AM telling me Q proposes a half roll cage for 7 k Euro.
As well as twin plate clutch & lightweight flywheel for 3 k Euro.

Still no price for harness or fire extinguisher.

I told them that was a joke to put on the market a so called track car without wing, blade, harness, roll cage, fire extinguisher as standard.
Some of those not even available as option.
Sounds to me like a marketing car or poser car not a proper track car.
Let's see what they say.

Agree on the wing, the rest is very personal though, would have expected harness and fire extinguisher as options, though

Hi. Has anyone been given a deadline for submitting their specification?

I'm almost there, just trying to decide on these final items. Can anyone advise their thoughts and/or whether they have specified them:

1) Polycarbonate windows
We have these on another car and they are horrendously difficult to keep looking good. What is the actual weight saving? Are most opting for these?

2) Alcantara seats
Quite tempted to leave the centres in leather. Again, are others considering this or going full-alcantara?

3) Forged alloy centre-locks
These are a £7,500 premium over the 5-lug versions. There is no valid argument to have them, but I don't want to risk under-specifying.

4) Colour scheme
Changes with the wind!

Mrs K,
Imminent deadline is what I was told on Friday so I believe that means this week ?
Poly windows - its a no from me.
Seats - Yes going with full alcantara as a) it matches b) I like Alcantara and c) to my mind it just looks better.
Wheels - not going centre locks - I too have them on another car and frankly unless u are planning on tracking frequently whilst they look better am not sure the inconvenience potential is outweighed.
Not sure I'm too bothered about the resale issue given how few are being made.
Still going black wheels though.
Colour - still the biggest dilemma by far !

We can't get these is the US, but here is my 2 cents worth.

1. Glass windows only.
2. Leather seats everyday over Alcantara.
3. Yes on the center-locks, have to for looks alone.
4. Aston Martin racing green. Resist the temptation for some Hidious trendy lime green or vulgar orange.

Ooofff, I say old chap, that's a bit below the belt isn't it!
smash
wobble

Ironically, said colours are probably even better suited to a GT8/12 than my car... Each to their own. laugh

1) No for me
2) Likely yes (for look)
3) No, see previous post (maybe I ll leave the standard bespoke wheels if suits my final colour choice)
4) Few short-listed but nothing decided (lot of ?s)

I understand, and everyone has to decide for themselves. I saw one of the latest episodes of Wheeler Dealers on TV here in the US and I can't remember the car they were fixing up, but they did paint it lime green, which they mentioned as being "very trendy" in the UK right now. And the car did look good, but to me it just looks like crap on a Vantage. I do think that Lamborghini's can pull these colors off nicely, but not Aston Martin. That's just my opinion and I know it's not shared, but it's honest.

Colour for a GT8 is clearly a difficult decision.

If some buyers intend to keep their car, obviously the colour needs to look good in the future.

Even after 40 years, orange can still look perfect. - smile

I would guess that it does, Rob.

However, orange tinted poly windows on your GT8, would certainly make it a unique car, but perhaps one step too far.

So I'm not alone in struggling to decide on a colour scheme! The temptation to go bold is great (and I admire those going for bright colours like green, orange or blue). At present its looking likely to be a very traditional Aston colour for me, but with a twist of modern-day excitement via the 'Accent' Pack + matching callipers.

I do wish there was a configurator, even if just a basic one, to make it easier to imagine some of the colour combinations. All I'm going on is a quick glimpse of a few 'case study' specifications in folio sleeves which were so incredibly reflective I could barely tell the pictures apart! As such, I've found it most effective to search for images of built GT12's on the internet... and squint!
