I saw exactly that colour at the factory and looked stunning on the pre-production DB11. You can't go wrong.

The only thing is to consider at the number of colors you will add on top of the base (black, orange, and partially, the silver of the lights/brakes). Each adds a lot of contrast to the car..but seeing at the rendering, it is "bearable".
On the other hand, If you look at the gulf livery on the GT12 I must say the mix of bright colours is too much and complex to the eye. Still love it, but must say looks better on pics rather than in person

With midnight blue base it looks good (but I prefer even more with red or white accents, rather than orange)

Shame - car was going really well (despite a fuel miscalculation at one point). Would have comfortably won its class....but hit a barrier with 3 hours to go frown

Here is one but without the wing, the wing is what made it look so much more than just a "normal" vantage frown

Yes, a shame...leading by more than 2 laps the second of its class.
in the entry list there were two GT12 meant to start as well as 'AM Test Centre' cars..dosen't seem they did race, any idea why?

May I gauge your opinions on 2 minor specification details please?

Calipers - I don't want to have coloured calipers, so trying to decide what is best out of: standard 'dark' anodised, grey painted or black painted. My initial thought is that the painted options would be easier to keep clean, but the anodised option might look more impressive? I must admit, I can't even remember them catching my eye when I was looking around the Stirling/Lime launch car but apparently its an 'all new' finish.

CF Winglets/Badges - simply undecided whether to go for these and wondering what the general feeling about them is versus the standard enamel ones!

Thank you smile

Hiya

Calipers - I personally quite liked the anodised so would go for those

CF Winglets/badges - We were quite indifferent to these so decided not to pay the extra cost of getting them and stayed with the enamel ones!

Rob , in my humble opinion the frosted glass blue looks fabulous especially with the accents although I can sort of see why Aston are trying to charge for it using the Gulf arguement - keep on at your dealer !

Mrs K , I like the annodised ones and am getting those - the finish seemed fairly easy to keep clean although probably black paint might be easier - put side by side I much prefered the annodised.
Personally I didnt like the carbon badges and certainly not at £1295.

I think the fact that all options are totally free of charge (Take them out of your premium, realised or not) and to widen the gap from other Vantages all the quirky and not good value for money options should be considered. The CC Wings badge makes absolutely no sense whatsoever (looks or cost) but is an item of intrigue and desire so therefore must be added. I think the brave will be further rewarded for lightweight centre locks, carbon everything, titanium exhausts and expensive Q paint schemes.

If budget is not a problem, I would paint the calipers and leave the badges in black enamel (btw, these are different from the 'normal' Astons badges in green enamel), unless you want to make a 'full CF' car.

If 'budget-constraint', regarding the calipers between grey/black/standard there isn't a strong noticeable difference so I'd save 1k to fund a must have option. On the other hand, If you were open to other colors, then the calipers paint job becomes a must-have and I would not save here

Many thanks for the opinions! Some good points made.

Does anyone know if the red press car is a Sportshift or a manual? Hopefully the latter!

When I saw the car in April at the factory I also asked which type of car would be given to the press (for test drives), the answer I was given from AM was "a Manual". When I asked in which colour, they said "it will be a red-car".

So, should be a proper Manual (although I haven't seen with my eyes). Would be disappointed if it was otherwise!

I expect I am commenting on the obvious, but the green badges are fitted to most Astons, with the black badges being used for higher powered versions.

Not sure where the changeover point is though. Do V12V models have black badges?

I am not keen on the carbon fibre wing badges. They make me think of how badges look, on a 50 year old barn find Aston.

Yes V12V have black badges, and Zagato models are red!

I'm surprised by the negativity towards the CF badge. When reading reviews for the GT12 a lot of the writers didn't like them, but on seeing them on the GT8 at Gaydon I loved them. At £1300 they're not cheap but it was a must for me.

1300 for a plastic part (reinforced with carbon). Very good bargain indeed. Hope you got 2 for that price one in front and one in back.
Cost probably 1 or 2, sold 1300, congrats AM!

Quite a money spinner in cash flow too. Take more 20k deposits held by AM than cars available. Hold those unspecified number of deposits for some time, as a precondition of being on a wait list that is not defined in size or probability of success. Eventually, I hope, release said deposits without so much as a thank you or recognition of support for the brand.
Even the Prancing Horse is not that aggressive.
Will the new impetus in engineering and design for new products be matched by its central customer service??

It can all go badly wrong though.
Do you remember the Jaguar XK220 fiasco?

1500 deposits of £50,000.
Recession arrived at the wrong moment, as is often the case, and only 275 cars were built.

There was a great deal of illfeeling. I think there might even have been legal actions to recover deposits, on the basis of changed specification (V6 engine instead of the originally announced V12).

That car was built in the same Banbury factory, that was subsequently used for production of the DB7.

Don't worry guys this is just a marketing game.
Sounds like it's working well!

Let's lay back and look at facts.

What is that GT8 all about?

Take a N430. Start by doubling the price and call it limited track oriented car.
1-Claim more power.
What a joke. Moving from 436 to 446 that's a performance indeed! Justifying doubling the initial price?
2-Claim weight savings
If you analyse the weight saving, most of it come from fancy expensive options that are not part of the double price initial package.
I am talking about the significant savings that brings the magnesium wheels, titanium exhaust, polycarbonate windows and CF roof. All costly options, not in the package.
Where is the weight savings frome the chassis? Or anything structural? Or interior? Alcantara versus leather?
Maybe a bit of CF here and here and job done. Double the price! Well done AM. Even the central console looks standard. At least the GT12 had something special inside as a console.
3-Claim similar look to GTE
Cost nothing as an investment to AM quite the opposite! Client pay extra to get expensive halo colors.
4- Claim track oriented
Roll cage not part of standard options list. No harness available. Have you ever seen a Track oriented car without harness?

So at the end of the day, if you want a proper spec car, all distinctive things that make that car appealing are all in the options list.
If you want a proper configured GT8 you need to triple the price of a N430.
Not sure it's worth the money.
You can get better cars for 250 k.

And better looking car as well as for the moment, all the GT8 configured car I have seen so far including the ones on that thread look more as aftermarket bad taste tuning especially the ones with color accents.
I would be embarrased on track with such a slow car for the money.
I would be embarrassed on road with such a tuning looking car.

But it's all marketing.
That car costed hardly nothing as development.
This is sold out and at triple price by comparison with regular AM Vantage.
Well done AM.

Please hate me.

I thought you were buying one? Is it safe to assume from the above comments that you are not now?
