Dear GT8 Owners,

Thank you for registering your interest in the upcoming Vmax event on 23rd September with Aston Martin. For those of you who are not familiar with the event, Vmax is the UKs premier top–speed driving event where owners of sports cars, supercars and hypercars gather at a private runway to drive their cars to their limits. amongst the non-stop action, participants set off in pairs and test their cars 0-60mph times as well as their top speeds.

Aston Martin has partnered Vmax over the last two years Aston Martin has partnered the event to offer guests the opportunity to drive one of our UK fleet cars down the runway with a professional driving instructor. As part of this partnership, we thought it would be a great opportunity to invite the UK GT8 customers together for the day as our guests to experience the event, drive their cars down the runway & importantly get some really cool imagery of as many GT8’s as possible. The details of the event are below and also in the attached, If you wish to attend please could you fill out the attached form and return to me at your earliest convenience. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Date 23rd September
Time – 08:45 – 16:00
Location – Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground, Lutterworth LE17 5QS
Website - http://www.vmax200.com/vmax200/

As a side note I am aware that a number of GT8 owners did not receive the invitation for one reason or another, but I would like to stress that ALL GT8 owners are invited to attend in their cars.

AM email. pm and i'll send form

Anyone else going?

I'm not hugely keen. I don't run PPF on the Aston and last time I attended a runway event (in a car limited to 155) I left with 26 serious stone chips and a crack in my windscreen!

VMax do clear the runway as much as possible, so it's minimised. You could always use masking tape for the runs, it's what Auto Vivendi do with their top cars on VMax days.

I might go but as the last couple of chaps have said I will see what the weathers like first and it is already late notice.
I'm also not that bothered about taking mine up the runway so have emailed them to see if u can just rock up or do u have to register in advance ?

Please let me know what they respond with.

I too have decided that I have no particular interest in 'Vmaxing' my car... its not really what the car is about (and at 2,000 miles I'm not sure I've bedded in my engine enough for such an event...).

However, I would be interested in turning up just to watch, but then to take the GT8 all that way just to watch seems pointless. So I'd be going up in another car. So what's the point.

All in all, pretty late notice and unclear.

Pb , have heard back from Billy at AML and also Craig from Auto V. They have emailed me a form to register but accept if a no show then fine.
Pm me and I'll forward.
They are quite happy for us not to use the runway and seem keen on the whole photo opportunity for them.
Mine has only got 500 miles on the clock so same thought as u.
If the weather forecast is good I'll go if I can rearrange other things but as u say very late notice. I'm not taking another car to go.
Otherwise a static meet somewhere else at some time as FFM has suggested - although Goodwood is a bit of a hike for me.

I'll write something to Goodwood just in case they may do exceptions.

My understanding about the Goodwood circuit, is they have noise level relaxation from their local Council for the Spring Members and the September Revival meetings only. At other times, lower noise levels apply. Breaches can can be really serious these days, and there have even been some examples of track closures.

I turned up to Snetterton (102 db) and was laughed at, hence why I'm very keen to attend my dealer's event at Silverstone next week. How they have managed to lift the limits I do not know but they are confident there won't be any issues, so probably one of very few events where I'll actually be able to get this 'track focused' car on track... pity I don't particularly enjoy Silverstone though!

I guess it is Works who organises it? btw, petrolburners are you in the GT8 group chat? Don't remember!

I did and drove this

Flat out right to the line was showing 185mph or so on dash. Felt quite nice to drive, lovely build quality.
Lot of money for what it is I believe it had the performance pack also.
I also did 205mph in my friends 997 turbo :-)
Cool day and credit to AM for letting people thrash their cars all day. The carbon ceramic brakes were stunning.

They don't care. They'll just sell them through the dealer network and not mention that they've been gunned when cold and thrashed to death without being run in properly (if you believe that is still necessary).

That's the same car as the chap from driving 2 distraction posted a couple of months ago - so definitely has the AMR Performance Pack applied.

What a ridiculous statement. How do you know they're gunned when cold?

When I went to Millbrook, I was hoping to do a few tyre smoking starts.
Someone else's clutch etc.
The instructor ruled out that piece of fun.

Saw AML cars making clouds of tyre smoke at St Athan though.

If any buyers might be at all worried, KX and KY is a clue.

Oh sorry Sir. You obviously know best. So no journo has ever gunned a car he doesn't own when cold. I'm not saying YOU do it but I'm quite sure it happens. Why so sensitive Beefy?

Same car, parked outside our house a couple of weeks ago - we were lucky enough to have it on loan. Yes it has the Performance Pack fitted and sound rather like a angry noisy toddler, plus it also has a carbon trim pack. While personally I couldn't discern the any extra power the mid-range response was really good, but the Performance Pack but is a lot of money circa £17K.

It's just a ridiculous sweeping statement to say that they've been gunned from cold all the time.

If we're getting picky I didn't say "all the time" and I'm sorry that you think it's so ridiculous but you're focusing on a detail of my post rather than the principle. The principle is that AML aren't taking the risk but are transferring that risk to the next owner(s), some of whom will not even know that it has been a factory/press car. That's the point I'm making. I really am sorry that you find my posts so offensive and do still wonder why you're so sensitive on this point. Anyway, surely time to move on ............
