Wait till next year
http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/car-news/consumer-news/88361/tax-disc-changes-everything-you-need-to-know-about-uk-road-tax

based on this, supposing you get the GT8 after 1st of April 2017 you pay:

+1,210 more the first year (vs current cost) = 2,000+310-1,100
-£55 each year afterwards = 140+310-505

Just get the car before April 2017 to save on the first year and the new Road Tax will be cheaper for this car, make sense or have I missed something?

I asked AM in regards to the Car configuration on the GT8, apparently it will be ready soon!! Glad to hear, I still have to figure out whether is worth paying for the "Exposed CF with Accent" or keep "Exposed CF only"..among other things

What do you guys think on this? Surely accent aren't a must have, in my opinion, but they some may look cool in combination with the main paint job.

Btw guys, AM Racing Green, is part of Q Special paint? Price for that?

FFM - I think the accents are really going to be a personal choice depending on the main body colour. If you were going BRG then I would think yellow accents would be good. But with something cinnabar orange (for example) I would leave the accents off (so it's just black and orange)

A configurator though would be very handy, my photoshopping skills aren't the best!

There is a document that is out called "GT8 Dealer Bulletin and Specificatopn guide".
With plenty of pix that I never saw anywhere including official Halo Scheme colors + 3 "Designers Specification" that are nothing else than suggested pre configured cars.

What is standard (meaning free) is primary pallete.

What is optional:
Contemporary paint colour
Previous Aston Martin paint colour
Carbon fibre front grille (GT8 looks stupid without IMO there is pix in that bulletin with and without)
Other manufacturers paint colour
Special Aston Martin paint colour
Other manufacturers special paint colour
Vantage GT8 Accent Pack
Vantage GT8 halo scheme
Lower valances and sills in exposed gloss carbon fibre
Carbon fibre rear tailgate and rear lamp infill

No clarity in this bulletin about what is Q and what is not Q in the above color option.
Not sure where fit AM Racing Green in there.

I have that document and it is really insightful, but, agree, not comprehensive. Thus, where the AM racing Green fit question

Not agree with the CF front grille! I love love love without, it is very-GTE and, also, differentiate the GT8 from the GT12!

These two pages should help a little, but they are by no means a comprehensive either. AM have a pallet of about 100 paints if you ask and that's before the other manufacturer and PTS kicks in!

http://www.astonmartin.com/colour-and-trim/palette

http://www.astonmartin.com/q-by-aston-martin#colle... - click on "view the colour collection"

There are several bright colours are at the bottom of the Q page, but quite a few on the std collection too.

I was lucky enough to get to go to AM HQ again yesterday afternoon to have a second look at the GT8. Have all of us who are getting one are lucky guys. It looked even better the second time around and the sound it makes is LOUD. Personally i think it looks better than the GT12 and cant wait to see it on the road. Only problem now is i have to wait 8 months to get it!

I wonder if they will have the same premiums as the GT12 which are now around the £500k mark.
I think they will be a good buy thats for sure!

cool! did you hear the "final" sound or is still under-development? I heard from someone (perspective owners, not AM) the sound we heard at the preview was with 2 cats, but the final version will have only 1...do you know if correct?

Thanks,
F

I'm hoping that was with one cat, if it gets any louder it's going to break windows

Ps glass buttons FFM. I think that was missing from your options list but I would definitely go for those

Yes the people who went prior to last week didnt get to hear final sound, but as of this week it has the final sound! It awesome! I can it startling a few predestrians as I fly past!! They had the electric seats working this time which are a must imo. Are you going for the steering wheel controls? I love the clean look without the buttons but then miss out on cruise control.

Curious - why do you think electric seat buttons are a must?

I was working on the basis that I would be the only person driving mine (wife would be too scared). So once it's in the right place it wouldn't need adjustment. Have I missed something?

No its a personal preference. Its unlikely i will let many people drive mine but if i do its nice for them to be able to adjust the seat angle and for me personally i like changing my seating position depending on the type/length of journey i will be going on. Having to go back to the dealers to have it changed would become tiresome very quickly.

Yup the electric pack gives additional height and tilt movements - without it they just go forward and backwards. I'd say they are a must too, but appreciate they add weight and cost.

Was that today? On social media he's suggesting to be there today... and that he'd love to buy one if a cancellation came up.
I don't get it, if he's ordered one why not just come out with it!

Yes agree, very personal. I prefer that manual touch in this type of cars and the aestetics aspects. Same logic applied on the steering wheel technology, I have it on my 4.7, convenient stuff but don't like the aestetics of that in the GT8.
Small disadvantage for longer trips but can live without smile

Was thinking the same re Glass switches..but didn't have the opportunity to compare those directly to poly's...what are the benefit/s of glass switches at £500?
