With the launch only a few weeks away I can't see them using a clay model for that. Maybe my expectations are getting ahead of me though! Not long until Silverstone WEC when it will be officially launched. I wonder how many will be left by then?
Ah that's interesting, heard about a mid-april official launch but didn't know about it being announced at Silverstone. Maybe I ll go there too.
Will be at AM early morning on the 6th, really looking forward to it!

Paid my deposit on Monday. Hoping I'll be able to spec it in same colour scheme as my GT12 so that I'll have a matching pair... Looking forward to my trip to AM

Did you guys prepare some high-level questions, related to the GT8, to ask AM when they will present the car to you? I have several but, maybe, I may have missed something..

Aston Martin is set to unveil a new lightweight, race-focused version of the V8 Vantage, called the GT8. Aston has sent out invitations to potential GT8 buyers, complete with an early sketch of the car, slated to be the lightest Vantage ever made.

As with the V12-powered GT12 revealed last year, the GT8 is set to use carbon fibre, titanium and aluminium to create a stripped out sports car that can rival Porsche's 911 GT3 RS. Performance details haven't been revealed but 0-60mph is likely to take around 4.5 seconds – three-tenths quicker than the V8 Vantage S.

We've been told prices will start at around £170,000, but as with the GT12, there will be some costly options on offer to further boost the GT8's performance. Expect to see a seven-speed manualgearbox offered alongside the SSII automatic transmission.

Only 100 GT12s are set to be built, and Aston is said to be limiting GT8 production to 150 unitd, with around 40 of those destined for sale in the UK. The car will be fully revealed to customers this week, so expect official pictures and details shortly.

Received my invite to spec my car yesterday. Cant wait. Car looks awesome. Not as aggressive as the GT12 but stunning none the less.

It looks like the 0-60 figure is off(?)...it is already 4.6 in the Vantage S http://www.astonmartin.com/cars/the-vantage-range/...

Curious to know more about the 7-speed manual as well. Very excited for tomorrow!

Hmm, well its only 10BHP more and ~70kg less so I would have thought 0.1 or 0.2 secs improvement is all that's likely?

I believe the 7spd manual is the same as the one that's going to be offered in V12VS so have a read of that thread. Its basically a manual version of the SSII 7speed! smile

I may be way off, but my guess is telling me it will be more than 70kg. I think, on top of the 100kg saved in the GT12 vs the V12S, there will be other minor savings, such as:
- CF bonnet, not present on the V8S but on the V12S
- Manual box vs Speedshift

to get to a total weight in the high-1400-to-low1500kgs region

The extreme was the N24 (ok, a very stripped out version, surely much more a track than a road car), with aluminium body, and they achieved a saving of 280kg (total weight of 1350kgs).

My information is that the stated target weight reduction is 70-100kg over a V8 Vantage S. Given Manual and SSII are both options I would expect that this range is reflective of either choice, but that's just me guessing. confused

Bear in mind that GT12 kerbweight is 1565kg, a 100kg saving over V12VS. As V8VS is 1610kg and many of the lightweight options from GT12 don't seem to have made it to GT8 I'd be quite surprised if it's kerbweight is <1500kg

Even at 1540kg (70kg saving) it would still live up to the claim of the "lightest Vantage ever"!

Interesting - that's either some sort of mule or just a GT12 as it has the GT12 horseshoe bonnet, which I understand is not going to be on GT8.

Definitely not the gt8 bodykit.

It looked amazing, in particular it is different from a gt12 in few areas. Very GTE.
