Sounds a good suggestion. As an aside, did any GT owners get the VMAX200 invite today?

Anybody had experience with the day before? It looks good from the site etc.

Thanks!

I've heard lots about it and it does seem like a great and popular event, have never attended one myself but I think it is certainly something worth doing! There were a couple of GT12's and GT8 at the last one as well as a load of other super/hypercars

Anyone at Goodwood FOS tomorrow? I am going and looking forward to it.

Re. VMAX, I haven't received the invite yet but literally yesterday I spoke with the guys at the factory and they say they will be present alongside several GT12s. Maybe they are in the process of organising it/sending invites etc.

Hurrah! Just spoke to the dealer (they say they've only just seen the email from the weekend, I guess it happens). So fingers crossed spec is now finalised and I can start looking forward to it being build.

Have to thank the guys at the factory, they've been top notch from Andy Palmer downwards since I got them involved in getting this sorted. I always think mistakes (in life) are inevitable, its how you deal with them that counts.

Excitement of getting a new car is back!

yes got confirmation yesterday as well. Project has been signed off so no more development expected. Still waiting confirmation re the uprated steel brakes, as mentioned in AutoExpress.

Alongside the tire width, the steering rack, new front springs, front anti-roll bar, suspension adjustments, front tire cambers, DSC tune, slightly lower ride height are the other notable items further enhanced on the GT8, in collaboration with AMRacing

Followed GT08 AML up the Goodwood Hill today in a Vantage V12S manual and was blown away by the sound of the GT8

It is a one hell of a car

It's incredible, and I must say it's very rare nowadays to have such a sound from the exhaust. The sound of other Michelin super cars, aside the Vulcan the FXX and few others, were very 'disappointing' in comparison.

488s, 911R, 560s, Chiron, to name a few, all sounded like electric cars!!

I'm fortunate enough to have gone shotgun with Marek Reichman in GT8 yesterday for a run up the Goodwood Festival of Speed hillclimb, and what an experience it was, you cannot believe the sound of this thing...

Makes me very happy I'm also a customer - bring on GT8!

I noticed you yesterday filming the start up a few times.

When it was quite on Thursday evening it made one hell of a noise being fired and and revved. its a wonderful sound. i dare to say imo better than a GT12

I think the GT8 optional exhaust is called Titanium.

Recalled that Quicksilver sell a Titanium exhaust. That make are fitted on some of the GT4 cars.
If the GT8 optional exhaust system is Quicksilver, then V8 owners will be tempted after hearing the recent complimentary remarks.

Over to the modified exhaust system experts.

Quicksilver do do a titanium exhaust, but from memory when I bought a QS for my DB9 the cost of going titanium was something like £12k (vs £2k for non titanium).

Prices may have fallen in the meantime but I'm guessing that if it's still at that level it would be prohibitive - I was genuinely surprised at the relatively (and I stress relatively) low cost on the GT8. But if guess in part it reflects AML not incurring the cost of a stainless system.

How much of the gt8 sound is a result of the secondary cat delete? That would seem to be the simplest first step for a v8 owner?

Thank you Rob.
With my 4.7, I am happy with the OE sound, in conjunction with occasional use of a remote switch.

I am interested in the technicalities of the GT8 sound though. Some V8 owners might want to emulate that.
Presumably the titanium aspect is weight saving, and has no bearing on sound differences?
Is the design of the ordinary GT8 exhaust system, the same irrespective of the metal used?

Judging by comments, the GT8 sound is very different from other V8 Vantages.
You have mentioned a Cat. delete.
How does the GT8 exhaust design differ, and might it be a Quicksilver product?

Sorry Jon can't help you too much with the specifics but:

1. I think FFM asked them about the exhaust manufacturer and it was Sebring (not sure if they supply others like Quicksilver)

2. I was told at Gaydon that there should be no sound difference between SS and Ti (ie it was about weight saving). I'm not sure whether that is 100 percent the case (or at least I wasn't prepared to risk it so ordered Ti)

3. I was told that the bhp pick up was entirely due to the cat delete. That suggests to me that they haven't done anything else to the exhaust system (or you might expect some bhp improvement from that). But this is just a guess, I'll ask next time I get the chance if no-one else knows

My only slight concern was that there was some suggestion in one or two reviews that the production model might be a little quieter - I hope it isn't smile

Noisy is fun, but when say on a motorway trip, that is when I prefer quiet.
Is that perhaps your preference too, if so, then of course the solution is the switch?

Thanks Rob, really looking forward to being back in an AM! As we all know, the process going through ordering is on the special end too.

As with others, I placed my deposit prior to the announcement so it's been 3 months of silence about it. I submitted my confirmed spec on the day I went for the factory preview in April and haven't changed anything since but I'm going to keep it quiet a little longer until I'm ready to make some video and social content about it.
