Paint/Lacquer repair advice needed
Discussion
My V8V needs some paint repair on the rear bumper.
Warranty wont cover it and I'm being quoted over 1500 to get it sorted through official channels but with service and possible Warranty extension in the next month or so I'd rather not have this on top.
As you can see its the lacquer. Im Dorset so somewhere "down sarf" would help. Not being in-country at the moment doesn't help.
Anyone had experience of Harwoods AM doing this sort of thing?

That would get away with a localised repair by one of the "Chips Away" type repairers, although not necessarily that specific franchise. Pop into the South Coast part of PH and ask for recommendations of someone near you.
^^^^^^This^^^^^^^^I used Nationwide Crash repairs to do a repair on a bumper after some scroat scratched it in the car park and it is completely invisible. They turn up with a blow up tent, heaters and all the proper paint for £300 from memory. That is only the lacquer that needs sorting, certainly not worth repainting that and every panel around it.
Many thanks for advice. As I suspected I can get this done cheaper.
Reminds me of the trickle charger saga......AM badged CTEK, "that will be one right arm and the PIN number to your bank card please Sir" or go on Amazon and get the same CTEK charger for half the price of a fill up!
I had some paint damage on my C4S which was worse than this to be fair and it came back good as new so the Commander In Chief is taking it there in the next few days for a quote.
Understand that AM will charge a premium, its the nature of the beast, but I baulk at that sort of price.

I've just had a full front end respray for less than that. As others have said use a smart repairer. I always use Revive and they do an excellent job
You only need a front end respray because of the way you drive And yer mate Lotto
And yer mate Cockernee
And yer mate Mikey

sorry to say but red cars are a bloody nightmare to paint as they often look different under certain light ........£1500 sounds like lots !!
Yep agree, hence my first port of call was to AM. But I remember many moons ago I had a red sports bike that needed some paint work and took it to the same place where the local Ferrari dealership (this was in Germany) took their cars to, again couldn't tell the difference. There will be places that I can look up but this is just lacquer damage so as you say, £1500 is a little steep.Update on my lacquer issue.
Well obviously I wasnt going to pay the £1000+ that AM wanted to repair the laquer damage on my car and went to a garage that sorted my Porsche ages ago....
All in £350. Sorry but i love you Aston Martin, but there is a limit to my generosity!!
