Cheers, you may already know but the Vantage GT is the same as the Vantage N430 - just sold under different names in the USA and UK, so makes sense your GT has it too.

Just waiting to hear back on this having chased again today, but was told that my production slot seems to have slipped from end July to early Oct but salesman did not know why! frown

Waiting for more info on why and if it can be brought back forward again...
Gives you more time to save your money. That's they way I would look at it. And it will be a nice Christmas present.

The last V8 Vantages shipped here are the GTS special edition. Basically a GT that could be ordered with unlimited options and colors. Crazy prices, don't know how well they are selling, when you can get a V12S for virtually the same money. I notice most were ordered with the Silver instrument panel and not the Black from the GT, IMO the Black looks nicer.

We couldn't get the GT8 because of stupid safety laws here, which sucks. While I couldn't afford one, it would have been nice to at least see and hear in person.

I admire your resilience. As you know I gave up after a year, I hope its worth the wait. Have you been able to drive one?

Well in fairness I lost about a month (June to July build) at the beginning due to the asking for 101 Q items but this latest slippage is unexpected and has left me a bit disappointed I have to say, although I am equally in no real rush either. The factory shutdown in Aug may be partially to blame, but then my car should have been built before that so... Seems I am not the only one to have slippage on their build slot either so I am wondering if there is more to it behind the scenes than just my Q items. scratchchin

I've not had a drive either - but told a manual demo car is touring the dealers next month so should get one then and it will now be before my build so I still have time to cancel! wink

The Tesla they test reminds me of this South Park episode.

Great news - are you still interested in buying one then?

Unlikely as I love my DBS but I'll see how it drives. It will need to be special to justify the cost to change from the DBS which just gets better each time I drive it

I had a test drive in the china grey with yellow highlights car (reg V12 VTE) at Cheltenham last Friday but I was rather disappointed with the shift quality for selecting 2nd & 3rd gear. Changing into 4th gear upwards worked well, a nice short throw with a little bit of a push needed on the stick. The clutch was nicely weighted too but trying to get 2nd of 3rd seemed to need a very precise and hard to sense amount of pressure to the left on the stick otherwise it ends up either blocking or selecting 4th / 5th instead which I did a few times. The same car is features in a number of youtube videos including this one :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FMwp2bNBLv4

where the reviewer talks about the same problem from about 4.45 onwards though he seems to like the idea of it being hard to operate. This car has already had quite a hard 10,000 miles of driving so I don't know if it's just been wrecked by journalists or it's meant to be like that but I've not come across a manual shift that vague in any other car I've driven; sports cars or cheap rentals. I really wanted to like it to replace my current V12S and with a better shift I'd probably have signed the order form on the spot but even after more than half an hour driving I was still making mistakes I've never made in other manual cars.

Has anyone else driven this car or another one to compare?

Ouch - that's exactly what I have been concerned about in my other post http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
I hope its worn synchros, or something similar, on this test car that's had a hard life. I have a test drive scheduled locally, and hope its on another car.

I had a drive a couple of weeks ago and was told the china grey is the only car in the uk. Apparently it is a pre-production car and has been a bit of a mule with lots of updates over its 10k miles. It's a production V12S from my understanding but then fitted with the 2017 interior and manual box etc.

I was told the gearbox between 1st and 2nd will be slanted as the gate is a little square at present. Also the box will be a little easier for 2nd/3rd position.

I must say I found the box a challenge at times as well, but some of this is down to how are minds are programmed to select a gear and they all seem in the wrong place! Best not to look at the gear display on the dash and try not to use your brain to register engine sound and speed when Selecting gears as the lever will always be in the wrong place to where you think it should be.

Strangely however I quite liked this as I felt it gave you something else to learn and master as you tried to tame the beast and get the most from the car. Not sure it is quite the same quick shifter as my GT4 though this is mainly due to the layout.

Gear change was great btw, but I felt the brakes had too much travel after coming from Porsche ceramic ones. I did find the car changed better with the AMShift Rev matching on as well as this smoothed out the gear change both up and downshift. There is a lot of torque thrust when changing up and feeding the clutch in whilst travelling, this made smooth changing difficult without AMShift (probably just more practice and a less heavy right foot). However, I like to heel and toe myself so wasn't so keen on the downshift blip (which is a lot tamer than porsche auto blipping btw).

Overall I loved the car and am seriously tempted to order. Am busy counting beans and seeing if I can get away with a 'not again' raise of the eyebrows from SWMBO rather than 'how much is it' which will illicit a string of words that will have me banned from PH if I repeat them!

Finally had confirmation today that I can have the N430/GT8 contemporary instrument binnacle fitted for a modest admin charge, so I'm a happy bunny again! smile

Now just need the test drive next Friday!

Hi guys,

thank you for all of the information on this thread. How many of you have ordered/collected one and how are you getting on with them?

I am very excited to say that I have just purchased the skyfall silver car from Grange Aston Martin Brentwood.

Any additional comments from any of you that have experienced one and photos of your cars would be appreciated!!
