New V12VS (manual) - Colour/Spec decisions
Discussion
Two further bits of good new / progress from Q today.
Black decal packs still available through Q, and pricing is identical to current model year options, i.e. £995 for roof, £495 for tailgate and £495 for mirrors. I haven't asked for lipstick but would assume it would also be the same on this basis.
Details of Alcantara dash areas confirmed too (via a diagram) - it is indeed identical to the zones covered in the Sport Plus pack!

Good news Adam, are you nearly there on spec now?
Cheers, getting very close indeed, just a couple of things to sort out with Q.- Zagato wheels - I am kidding myself really that these are going to be acceptably priced, but...
- Alcantara / Lime stitch gearstick gaiter
- Obsidian Black Alcantara door/seat stripes - which I want to tie in with the steering wheel and roof inner, and differentiated from/ highlight to Pure Black dash and Seats inners.

Check out Zag wheels available here:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-19-GENUINE-Aston-Mar...
They also have a 'make an offer' option, so could be worth a punt?
In fact, if somebody wants some V12VS wheels for their V12V / V8V, you could do a deal with them? I.e. you spec your car with the wheel style/colour they want, sell them your V12VS wheels and (depending on what you sell them for) you only pay the difference between that and the Zag wheels.
OR.. use the stock wheels for winter or track day tyres...?
Cheers, yeah I saw that a few weeks ago when it was posted here - the biggest trouble is that there are only 2, well that and he wants £3500 each for them! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-19-GENUINE-Aston-Mar...

I also want them in Gloss black, so there would be additional cost in painting them. These are what I ideally want:
However as they are very likely going to cost a small fortune, these are what I will most likely end up with:
The std free wheels, then painted Gloss Black with Gloss centres - cost about £700!
As much as I like the lightweight satin black wheels, Im struggling to see another £3100 in them (price £3800) over those above.
I would love to know the actual weight of each of the types of wheel - might help me justify the cost to myself if I could see a significant unsprung weight saving.

It says in the description that its for a set of 4, and I presume the quantity means 2 sets of 4 wheels? Might be worth messaging him to clarify. I'm sure they will be a hell of a lot cheaper than what Q will charge.Edited by AdamV12V on Wednesday 20th April 20:24

Are the roof and taillight infill really decals or are they actually painted gloss black? If it's only the former, I would suggest getting it done anywhere else that does vinyl wraps. It really would look way better if they are painted, though.
Yes, fully painted at the factory and the join is seamless and appears at least to be under the layer of lacquer. Given I have the option to do so I think its probably worth paying the extra for this level of finish.Beefmeister said:
I see zero point in spending a huge amount of money on wheels just to paint them gloss black. Just paint the standard ones and ruin those instead.
(Not a fan of black wheels. At all)
Hehe, I must admit I am struggling with the concept of after market painting something and would much rather they were black from the factory, and thus under warranty too. Now now 100% sure on gloss either, was thinking it will match better with the roof and other decals, but maybe satin black is best being more sinister and less bling. Black for sure though with my external colour scheme, just don't think diamond turned, silver or graphite would work.(Not a fan of black wheels. At all)
So a bit undecided now between all 3 types of wheel (inc the Zags) and in either satin or gloss, so knowing prices will help determine the choice as I'm already at the top end of where I wanted to cap my budget.
The std wheels in liquid silver (as below) are free. These would be the base cost with say £600 for refinishing in one of the blacks with matching centre caps. Waiting to hear if Q will do it for similar money!

I'm thinking of going for a set of these Zagato wheels.
What do you think I could get for my black V12S wheels?
As new, no repairs from a low miler 2015.
I suppose I can stick them on ebay with no reserve and find out but I'd rather just price them properly and list here on PH classifieds.

Following a quick chat with Flugplatz and then Dave, I am pleased to confirm that I have now snapped up the other (last) set of Zagato's and will also be taking delivery next week. I've decided to fit them as they, DT face with gloss black inners.
Just need to wait 6mths before I can fit them to my car!
The spec of the Green Machine is coming along nicely now.

Cheers guys for all the positive comments!
I'm very excited now - the wheels were the last major item to resolve. I hesitated a bit yesterday with the whole ebay thing, but moved quickly today to secure the last set folling info from Q below, and I am very happy with the choice and the cost.
So just to update on a couple more Q spec items which have come in today:

So just to update on a couple more Q spec items which have come in today:
- Zagato Wheels - unavailable for std customers (i.e. non-Zagato) to ensure exclusivity - hence I decided to jump and buy the others. (Prob not the whole truth - more like there are none left sir, but....)
- Std 10 Spoke Wheels painted in black gloss - £495 (A very reasonable and temping price but decide to go Zag!)
- Alcantara Headliner in duo inner/outer colours - Was £695, but now re-assessed and reduced to £495 (A little happier so decided to go with it)
- Pure Black alcantara gear gaiter with Lime Green Stitch - £370
A couple more Q updates today as spec-final day draws near - in fact I was intending to do it today, but more questions raised their head at the last minute, so need another day or two to reflect.
Also improved the combo of the gear gaiter / stick to include Q stitch, again at no change in cost, and finally added in a custom ECU pouch with lime stitch for just a minor uplift over the std one.
- Alcantara dash previously quoted at £695 now confirmed as NOT including any contrast stitching (as is NOT included on Sport-Pack Plus either). In reality this is just 3 short vertical runs as the rest of the stitch is either part of the instrument binnacle or the centre stack, but was a little disappointed to hear this. Q requoting to include the contrast stitch, so will make up my mind after hearing this.
- Seat/Door Stripes in either Obsidian Alcantara or Lime Green Leather : £995 Pretty crazy price, so will be sticking with no cost Pure Black Leather stripes.

OK, we are done - the order is loaded and locked in!
Exterior is Q Kermit Green paint with CF bonnet vents, side strakes and a gloss black roof, tailgate and mirror caps. Interior is a combo of Pure Black Leather and Alcantara, Lightweight seats, with just enough Q Lime green stitch and a few other little custom Q touches as per various posts above.
So now just the 4 month wait for build and delivery - estimate Sept.
A HUGE thank you to both Mark and Max at JCT Leeds for their patience with my endless requests, support with my colour choice and just putting up with the number of visits over the last few weeks. I really can't recommend these guys enough, just a great dealership and really make buying an Aston feel as special as it should. Also a massive thank you to Amy at Q, for her perseverance with my constant stream of slightly revised special requests, many of which I haven't taken forward, but some of which I have and I feel are going to make the car feel that little bit more special still.
Oh and thanks to all you guys on PH for listening, posting some great ideas and feedback and just for sticking with me through it all.
Right, I'm off out for a beer or two to celebrate!

Did u leave in leather or get it alcantared ?
Just left it in leather as I have quite a good mix already of leather and alcantara. Alcantara will be on full dash area and steering column (with leather upper IP and binnacle), door panels (with leather stripe), seat inners (leather outers) and gear gaiter (leather knob), so I was happy with no cost option to keep the main centre console stack in leather. All in all, I hope I will have achieved a really sporty 50:50 blend of leather / alcantara, all in pure black with lime. So, I'm afraid its one of the bits I didn't ask for a cost on, but it's always worthwhile you enquiring with Q if you are even partially interested.
It would seem that even The Queen has realised that Kermit is THE colour this year!

Just a quick update...
I have asked if its possible to the get instruments/dash facia as fitted to Vanq Zagato and GT8 (pic below) so just awaiting feasibility and price from Q. It's unlikely I think, but it would work well with my interior.
I have also finally found real pictures of a Kermit Green Vantage in the far east! OK, it's a V8S not V12S and it has grey highlights but I really like it and the colour validates that the photoshopped pictures I made and posted earlier.
Just 2 months to wait now!

I love the colour, not sure I'd go for that lipstick though
Just out of curiosity (and having not owned a vantage before) what's different about the zagato/gt8 dash?
Yeah agree - silver lipstick is a no-no with kermit! Ive gone for all CF and black low-lights, including the roof, rear panel and in-fills, strakes, mesh, DLO, vents and headlights, so hopefully will look a lot better.Just out of curiosity (and having not owned a vantage before) what's different about the zagato/gt8 dash?
With regard to the binnacle / dash, I had noticed on videos of the GT8 and Zatago (I have super eagle eyes!) that they have fitted a revised dark finish. It looks like they have just removed the chrome rings and gone for a more sporty font, so not that significant, but its the little bits that all add up!
The std binnacle is:
This is a screengrab of a video, hence its pretty poor quality but you get the idea:

hi Adam,
Just FYI if I'm not mistaken the GT8/Zag dials are the same as those fitted to the 'new' Vanquish - and they are also used on the N430 (I think they call them 'contemporary style') so you SHOULD be able the factory to source for you.
I agree with the view that these area much nicer and 'stylish' than the normal version - certainly suits Vanquish.
Cheers
Andy
Ahhh, indeed they are (just googled)! Thanks ever so much that will help and probably make it more reasonable / easy to get - you never know, it might even be std fit in the V12VS from MY17? Fingers crossed.

Having seen a Kermit green Vantage in the metal, that pic has definitely been tweaked. It's nowhere near as neon as that IRL.
Looks bloody stunning though, your V12VS will look utterly amazeballs.
Cheers! I agree its not quite that neon in real life - I have a real paint mould from AM at home in Kermit and have been staring at it on my desk almost every day.Looks bloody stunning though, your V12VS will look utterly amazeballs.
Which Kermit Vantage was that then - the GT12 perhaps? That's the only one I am aware of in the UK so far...
Do you have any pictures that you could post or perhaps PM to me if posting is a no-go?
