Not a bad result then peeps.

3rd in GTE pro and 1st in GTE am

Still life in the old dog yet.
love thi sport and how things can change in the last minutes of the race (e.g. Ferrari out and Aston could easily pass the Ford in a lap or 2 more)!

An unfortunate end to the race, for Aston Martin car 95.

Lots of positives from Spa,,,although no answer yet to the Pro 51 and 71 488's. That gap does seem unbridgable, no better reason to get the tech boys into aggressive mode. I wish them the best of British. thumbup

I hope you have time to do this. It gave me a great feeling, of driving in the wheeltracks of very brave racing drivers from another era.
Thanks David, I had half an hour up my sleeve and went and found the old banked track via Masta as described, most wouldn't even realise what it was. Pretty cool to think of the men and machines that would roar through what is now a simple road in the country.

I'm on my way there tomorrow, so I'll let you know "photographically" wink

Spa is one of those iconic tracks and I've never been there and can't wait to explore!
Love the photography, dabble myself, geeky gear run down?

Thanks for the compliment :-) Haha, geeky gear run down aye... will really sound like it!
Main kit is Canon, consisting of a couple of 5Dm3 bodies and attached to those could be any of the following;
11-24mm f4 / 14mm f2.8 / 15mm f2.8 / 24mm f1.4 / 24-35mm f2 / 50mm f1.2 / 70-300mm 4-5.6 / 135mm f2 / 200mm f2 / 120-300mm f2.8 / 150-600mm f5-6.3
Then there's the Fujifilm X-E2 & 14mm f2.8 / 18mm f2 / 35mm f1.4 / 56mm f1.2
...and also my old analogue Nikon F4S and Olympus OM-1 with sundry lenses - some of which I adapt onto the Fuji
:-)

I sat at the start/finish straight for the start and the first five laps, and with each of those laps you saw the #97 Vantage just drop a little bit further back from the two lead Ferraris. While the quali pace seemed ok with less than half a second separating #97 from fastest #71 Ferrari, during a six hour that's going to add up! Of course fastest laps are not indicative of overall race pace... but the Ferrari won that by 1.5 seconds.
Looking at the numbers afterwards the #67 Ford and AM97 have almost identical lap times and top speed - but the Ford has to be the worse sounding car in the entire field, like the aftermath of a hard night of lager and vindaloo.
I suspect a lot will come down to reliability at Le Mans.

Great pix Mr T, thank you.

We don't like being 'beat' at the best of times, but these pesky Itys do have a bit of a podium history. I hope we don't have to rely on them experiencing reliability problems, on the other hand, we had our share of that in 2015 (steering rack) etc. It may have been coincidence but the 51 car having pre-race experienced mechanical issues, it did succumb when really pushed.
At Le Mans anything can happen, Lady Luck on our side would be great and would more than make up for a .5 sec lap deficit. If at the end of that gruelling 24 hour race all 3 AMR cars finish and can step up on to the podium in both Pro and Am I shall be delighted.

Great photos Dean.

You said you would try for three front runners behind a Vantage, and you did it.

Thanks, always curious! Really like your use of monochrome and the images where the subject is caught through barriers or isn't the obvious subject of the shot - the out of focus man in the center of one image draws your eye, but the two cars top left are the real focus - makes you actually look at the image rather than 'speed read' it.

Thanks guys, I appreciate it. I'm always happy to share a few Aston photos, as over the years trawling around looking for AM shots you become aware that like ownership, images are not that common compared to other marques. I'm pleased to have a receptive audience! smile

I would probably shoot everything b&w if I had the choice. It is my preferred medium and I am lucky enough that I have clients that are willing to humour me.
