Sorry sfo I didn't take one - albeit it had that same brogue effect leather- the wife liked that, personally I didn't - for my money I would still go with diamond quilting if I had the option

The picture I really wanted was looking through the boot down the side air vents (if you like - the reverse of the travel of air for the aeroblade). It would make a great photo but people kept obscuring it and then I got distracted. So if anyone gets a chance in the next couple of weeks....

I shall post some photos when I'm home, but I was with a few others at Works and was particularly impressed with Ian Minards opening spiel, in particular with reference to the engine which I'd certainly expected to be be a Merc power plant. All IMO, but the car looks beautiful, perfectly proportioned and retains all the character of the AM brand with a really fresh feeling. The clamshell bonnet was a work of art, although replacing it post a minor dink could be expensive. Clever aero, inspired styling and impressive performance figures make it a worthy replacement for the DB9. I was 50/50 on the interior - the seats were the most comfortable I've sat in for some time, albeit static, the marble effect panelling did absolutely nothing for me. Tony's comments about the knobs are spot on, but I understand this is not a true reflection of what is actually going to be installed.
All in all, a bit of a triumph and a fine start to the new model line up. Just need to sell some organs......

There won't be one. They'll put out a new Vanquish after the Vantage.

Excellent DB11 event at Lancaster Sevenoaks today. The DB11 looks great in the flesh, and is very different to the DB9 -in my opinion the DB9 is elegant and refined, and the DB11 is much more dramatic and aggressive. The view from the wing mirrors over the rear haunches is very dramatic. The aero-technology is interesting - the wing vent takes air pressure from the wheel arch and is sealed from the engine - and as it's open the bonnet area above the front wheels will get the dirt from the road - there's a pad there made of the same fabric as on wheel arches. The rear vent through the rear wing to the boot (see poor quality photo - taken looking down the hole from the rear of the passenger door through the open boot) is apparently patented by AM - and it's a hole with a grill at the boot end, so clearing the hole of leaves and other debris will be interesting. Internally, it's much more modern - so less leather, more "hard" trim on the door cards and centre console - have to say I prefer leather. The dash is now digital so no more cool-looking speedo/reverse rev counter. My only gripe was the internal door handle - it's not as ergonomic as the DB9, you have to reach further and twist your hand to open the door. Colour can be ordered all-over the same, which is a change from the original spec. It's also 60mm wider than the DB9 for those with standard width garages. AM Sevenoaks' demonstrator will be Volcano red with black roof - so I'll be back again when that arrives!

Ive yet to see the DB11 in person and when i finally get a Works invite on launch night im in Kabul!
But its still not doing it for me. I do like the V12V but its still the Vanquish that in both pictures and in person i would have in a heartbeat.

Anyone here on the mechanical side know if a front-opening bonnet gives better access to the engine? I always wondered how easy it was to work on the radiator end with the bonnet ready to bump your head as you stood up.

Saw it tonight at Lancaster Sevenoaks. I wasn't sure what I thought of the car after seeing the initial pictures, but was hoping it would look better in the flesh.

Unfortunately it doesn't quite do it for me - not that I have the means for one at the mo anyway, but I felt quite underwhelmed when I saw it. Particularly disliked parts of the interior, including the 'hard surfaces' on the door panels.

Lancasters 'hospitality' was pretty poor as well with god awful instant coffee and not much else. I remember going to an event to announce the Vantage all those years ago and the whole thing was great, this was a rather flat experience, with a 5 minute preamble followed by a 3 minute video, and then the cover was yanked off the car. No one from the dealer made any effort to come and speak to us from the moment we walked through the door to the moment we left; the lack of engagement was quite startling.

The other half was much more taken with the V12 Vantage parked outside, so maybe some good has come of the night!

Oh my god, your experience sounds awful. The exact opposite of mine at Grange Welwyn last week.

We had prosecco, beers, soft drinks, various tasty canapés, speeches from a guy from Grange, from an Aston Martin Racing driver and from a guy from Aston who were all happy to answer questions while mingling around afterwards.

Everyone was really friendly including the sales person I'd bought my Aston from who sought us out.

Very unlucky experience my friend. Should tell Aston directly...It's not the way to sell a DB11!

Grange Aston at Brentwood had their event this week as well. It was a nice evening. Like others I have mixed views on the DB11. I like the exterior but am not taken by the revised interior, I like some aspects like the seats but if I am honest I prefer the interior of the DB9.

Shame about your experience I went to the Works one a couple of weekends ago and apart from there being so many people i couldn't get to see the overall car just bits of it at a time.
Apart from the above the whole thing was very pleasant with some very good finger food and drinks provided, the sales staff circulated well but were on a hiding to nothing due to the numbers.
I did hear afterwards that they had a lot of people turn up on spec so maybe that was the cause of what seemed like over crowding.

My experience in the morning at Lancaster Sevenoaks was very good - OK the coffee and tea were poor, but the AM team - the Head of UK sales, MD of AM Sevenoaks, resident track driver and around 3 other AM sales people were all very hospitable, approachable and informative. Most importantly, there were only about 10 people there, so we were able to view the car and discuss the details without the over-crowding reported elsewhere.

I was at the last session, so maybe they had just had a long day, and lost some enthusiasm.
