Interesting comments about how the 5.2 turbo V12 performs and sounds....

"it lacks the yowling top-end soundtrack of today’s naturally aspirated V-12. Instead, it emits a bass-heavy exhaust note laid over a muscular induction roar. Such is the price of progress"

This is sad. frown

That's just what I thought. I also wonder if it will have that multilayered rumble at low revs when you barely push the pedal through town...

Best video review of the DB11 that I have seen so far.
Steve Sutcliffe likes it a lot:

^^ Looks like it's a great car to drive, but it definitely sounds turbocharged - muted and missing the higher harmonics and frequencies, except for the turbo whine. Would be hard pressed to tell the difference in that sound compared to any blown Merc V8/V12.

It's really difficult to tell in a video and on PC speakers. But I can tell the sound is a huge disappointment compare to the NA V12, and the same will be true of the AMG V8. This willl make NA Astons that much more valued and appreciated. The new generation Astons are going to appeal to a wider group of buyers. The next generation want forced induction and low zero to 60 times. And if the next Vantage pops and bangs like the Jaguar F type, they will triple their sales the first year.

I expected a better engine noise inside - just quite different to the AM's I'm used to. I've got good speakers so hopefully it's the recording that's letting it down.

There is one reason only for turbocharging for me personally: if you really want to maximize speed.
If max velocity and acceleration isnt the goal, then i would prefer no turbocharging.

for that reason alone: the DB11 is not for me.
I would like to take an F40...oh wait...not enough monieesss... frown

To be honest in this day and age it would have been a very bizarre decision not to have turbo charged it. It looks like a fantastic engine to me. It is sounding more like the AMOC on here every day!

Yes, because that is turbocharged for all the right reasons: ligh weight, speed and acceleration.
The DB11 is not.

Well off topic now but my first real performance car was a 1992 FD RX7 which was all that I could afford. Great car but always felt like turbos were a way to get power for those that couldn't afford a real motor. How the world has turned......

Turbocharging these days is more about emissions.
