Lots of opinion, looks like youll need to dip your toe!
Anyone see Clarksons piece yesterday in the Times?
It does sum up Ferrari ownersip unfortunately.
The only people who really love you when you own a Fezza are your kids, it was one of the reasons for buying a Speciale, and will probably be the only reason to buy another.
No, is there an online link? Would love to have a read Anyone see Clarksons piece yesterday in the Times?

Wow that black car looks stunning!
All jokes apart though some chap on the McLaren forum has just bought a beautiful 540 for £131k new . Looks stunning for the money , i thought they cost more seem better value than a second hand 458 surely.

I read that thread as well. Have to admit the 570/540 models do look amazing. They've really perfected the design now. RHD 458s with decent mileage and from an official dealer seem to start at the £149k level.
650S Coupes from £159k.
570S and Hurracans from £169k.
Eight speed Vanquishes somewhere in the middle... Decisions decisions...
Recently visited McLaren and totally agree their design and attention to detail is just fantastic.
I have two things that would stop me getting one, probably a 570s Spider when it comes out, and that is the noise and the interior. When we were looking at the production facility they were starting the cars up and compared to wht you hear at Gaydon it was underwhelming. I understand that they make a great noise at 10/10ths but you get a fabulous noise, especially in a V12 roadster, at 3/10th and have a better chance of retaining your licence.
I really like the interior of the 570 which has developed very nicely but it will never compare with an Aston - but I do not think they even consider Aston a competitor.
However, I know they are working on the noise, and the 570 is a big improvement on the 12c and 650 and if they get that right then I could live with the interior. You never know........

I test drove a 570S for a few hours about two months ago and really enjoyed it. It looks fantastic and it is very easy to drive quickly.
When I finished I couldn't really work out if I wanted one or not. It struck me about two weeks later that driving it was a non-event compared to driving the V12V and that I had been focussing on the Mclaren name more than anything else. I'd love to have one but I wouldn't change the V12V for it. Now, a 458 or a Huracan might be a different matter, not driven the Huracan, yet.

Indeed. I'm afraid the idle, cruising and light acceleration sounds of the V12 have spoilt any other car for me- not just the Macca's. Even at 10/10ths, the V12 has multiple overtones. If the 458 V8 is a trumpet and the Merc/AMG V8 is a tenor sax - the V12 is a full quartet (sorry - jazz fan here).12pack said:

That's one of the gripes I have with my 918 GT4.
You lucky chap, I didn't know they made a GT4 version of the 918! :-)phil bird said:
Update!! Did I sell the vantage v12 for the italia! Never!! and I plan to keep it forever since I posted luckily with work being busy I've added this little beauty to the black fleet and I can't fault the GT4
Ha, very interesting - it would seem we own 2 of the same cars then, albeit that I have my GT4 up for sale right now. Would love to hear if your thoughts on how the two compare to see if they are in alignment with mine. Gassing Station | Aston Martin | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
