Not seen them in real life but in the pictures they look like a rough/cheap cast.

I must smile at the lengths Aston go to save weight, I'm pretty sure my car would benefit from me weighing 10 kilos less and forget the light weight wheels.biggrin

Would agree in principle but from what I have read over the years to save the same amount relative to unsprung weight then it needs to be multiplied by a factor of 4.
Personally I would struggle to get rid of 10 kilos but 40 kilos would be impossible.

If I ever need the weight saving that much I will just run at half a tank of fuel maximum.

Even in GT12, there is plenty more they could do if they really wanted to. I also note that a number of GT12s have had electric motors for the seats and B&O stereos optioned in, which must collectively add 5kgs surely, which I find completely at odds with the very focussed nature of the car, especially as the lightweight seats have relatively few adjustments which would therefore be very easy to operate manually and also add to the track car feel of this model

However to be fair, just as with Porsche's sticker instead of enamel badge on their RS models, I'd view CF badges as being symbolic of the nature of the car rather than a remotely serious attempt to save weight. Taking the manual out of the glovebox would save more weight than the CF wings ! If AML were really serious about weight saving on the GT cars, they would for instance have fabric doorpulls instead of the thick leather ones which again, are more symbolic than something which offers a practical advantage - I see the CF badges in a similar vein

Marvellous, so we are all agreed - the unsprung weight saving from the Zag wheels is a winner and the CF Wings are not! Quite funny that the cost is actually very similar! tongue out

Off down to see my set in a couple of hours, and will try to get some info on the real weight difference. Also hopefully finalising the spec on the rest of the new car too, so very excited! smile

Total agreement Jonby, i would suggest that adding the elec motors and B&O would add considerably more than 5 kilos.

AML have produced a car with a nod towards weight reduction and lets be fair how many of us would be able to appreciate the difference the weight savings might make, I'm sure I for one wouldn't.
When you look at Porsche most of the lightweight models they produce seem to be specced up with AC, Radio, electric seats etc by their owners.
I guess the reality is most owners want the look and the cache of the limited edition model but want their creature comforts as well even if that will defeat the majority of the weight savings the manufacturer has implemented.

I don't actually like the CF wings if I'm honest, I wouldn't want them if they were a FOC option.

However how can you charge £2.5k for a pair of CF seats, and then the same for a pair of badges.....come off it judge

These aren't CF wings, are they? I thought they were more akin to CCM, requiring similar manufacturing techniques. I may be misremembering....

I inspected my Zags this afternoon pleased to say they have arrived undamaged and complete with AM labels / part numbers, which the parts department confirmed. Also been confirmed through another channel as 100% authentic - so all good on that front.

I'm afraid I forgot to attempt to weigh or ask about the official weight. Sorry just had lots of other Q costs and spec queries going on which totally stole my focus as time is now very short to finish my spec.

Well, I have tried to live with the Zagato wheels as delivered but I just cant fully adjust so I have dropped the car off at the Powder coaters today and it will return on Friday with black wheels again.
The Vantage V12S lightweight wheels are Satin black...

whereas the Zag wheels when factory painted are gloss black with CF centre caps.
I keep changing my mind on the finish I want.

This Zag makes me think gloss is the way to go...

got to say, I agree with black wheels on the colour of your car.

I like the fact the silver/black look like they came from a car from 2010 or so, so it works for me and my Quantum, but the bold colour/grill etc of yours need a more contemporary finish. Will look forward to seeing it.

Hah! We'll the PSS are on the way to BR and it's having the Lance spec and adjustable suspension.

Wheels aren't on yet, but based on my standard wheels being silver/black I'm pretty confident.

I think I mentioned this before, but I'm fairly sure that's the red prototype car - you can tell by the deeper vents on the front bonnet and the different grille from what was on the production cars.

Page 20 of the official V12 Zagato brochure shows only 2 finishes available for the wheels, Gloss Black and Diamond Turned (which is what ours are) or Full Gloss Black.

That said they do look very nice indeed in satin black too, and it won't put me off going with a satin black finish either if I also decide that's best suited to the colour of my car once delivered. After all there was only 60-70 Zags made so nobody is ever really going to know or be able to say anything, plus they are such fantastic wheels that I think they look great in all of the finishes.

Anyway, here is a Zag on autogespot to show you that anything goes really - well as long as its OEM! wink

Another vote for the standard fit wheels, the Zag wheels will definitely look better painted all black...smile

May I ask, are you selling the standard wheels?
