I think Stratstone are the UK's largest retailer of aston martins. So I agree with Tony (for once)

Well it was for me.

Ive just had my fixed price annual service and it was the same price as elsewhere and they picked it up and dropped it off so in my book that is free smile
If you think you didn't pay for the transport in one way or another.....you are very naive ....or just stupid....I would hope the latter.....
Flug put up what he paid for the service and if they had added anything with in that ,the price was even better!

If fixed price servicing is the same whether they pick the car up or not, it's not cost you any more. It's no different from refusing their coffee and expecting a discount as a result - we all pay one way or another. Although as AM in general lose money, it's the shareholders who are paying.

Back on topic... it all just seems very odd. Other than Wilmslow, what other AM dealerships do Stratstone have?
It didn't work Jon. Anyway back on topic, again! Don't Stratstones have Park Lane, Western Avenue (both London), Wilmslow, Derby and Cardiff. Lots of rumours about Cardiff with the new Bristol dealership opening but with the announcement of the new factory in South Wales I would be surprised if they closed their only dealership in Wales just now, although it doesn't really match the standard of the new Newcastle or Bristol dealerships. Anyway, Stratstones still a big player in the Aston world, but not as big!

Indeed, although billed as Birmingham, 'Balsall Common' to Brum is similar to saying London Luton airport is actually London.

I saw the listing appear for the dealer on Google maps search a while back and when passing stopped to take a pic, the crates of building materials spotted through the window inside did indeed state 'Aston Martin Birmingham', so behind the scenes from when the site was available for new occupier to the renovation works under construction now, it has been on cards for some considerable time.

A dealer primarily exists for new car sales and attending to cars in 3 year maker warranty period, i cant see how the always dead Hagley (i went there often and it was always quiet in terms of cars in workshop and folk looking at sales cars compared other dealers), will be any different and not mean a dead Balsall Common? I can understand the need for a dealer in Brum, such as Bentley / Lambo dealership which is somewhere a lot more prestigious like the Fort Dunlop site. This site used to be a Merc dealer but the location like Hagley, is a bit out in the sticks and could be why it was given up as a Merc site? Its hardly on the doorstep for city dweller / worker meaning that if you had to make a little bit of a trip out to buy a new car, why not go to the prestigious place such as Works instead of Balsall Common? I dont get this but Grange must know what they are doing.

Got an email at midday telling me the new Grange Aston Martin Birmingham opened on 18th May. As has been mentioned it is not exactly city centre but I assume their thinking is that AM owners in the area tend to live in the leafy belt around Birmingham rather than the centre.

It does say

'Based in an interim facility near Hampton in Arden and operated by our long-standing successful partner, Grange, the team bring with them a wealth of experience and expertise to the new Aston Martin dealership. '

Does that mean they are waiting for the full fit out? There are no cars on astonmartin.com yet but they have the address and map so I guess they are in that run up period.

Must say the Bristol dealership is looking good.....Look forward to it opening in the summer. I have dealt with Dick Lovett a number of times and found them to be very good. Plus I see right next door there is a Mclaren, Bentley, Rolls Royce and Lambo dealer opening as well......Plenty to look at...

As the Cardiff dealer is Stratstones is that going as well.....Must say it is looking a little tatty these days as its a very old building.

I don't know but as said before, I have a problem with stratstones so I wouldn't be sad if it went. If Wilmslow is the best performing dealership in the country, or even just one one of the best, why is there so little investment in the site? You simply can not park there and it is more likely a site people sell two grand bangers from. If Astons policy is to squeeze the dealers to upping their game and that means Grange or whoever build new while Stratstones slowly close, then so be it.

Tony is definitely not a bafoon.........
If you're calling him a baffoon.....now that's debatable.
Personally I've found him to be ok but that may say more about me.
