Any ideas people?...

I've been able to play Spotify via the cable in the arm rest & my iPhone 6 (iOS 9.3.1) with no problems at all.
Unfortunately yesterday it threw up an 'iPod unrecognisable' error message.

Anyone else had this?

thanks!

I've had that in the past. Try doing a hard reset on the iPod (whilst not connected) and then reconnect it......... This won't wipe it or anything, it'll just force a full restart.

I get that from time to time with my old 160GB iPod Classic. A reboot of the iPod fixes it.

Must be a different issue with an iPhone though. Will it play music from the Music app?

It won't connect full stop.
Worked fine for nearly 6 months!

Have you tried a different cable? Will the iPod/iPhone work in a dock in the house?

Right, it looks like the issues is with my phone & the car.

Tried an old iPod nano in the car and it worked fine (without lightening convertor)

Tried my phone (using lightening connector) in a small speaker system in the house and again it worked fine.

So for some reason the car now doesn't like my iPhone 6!

I've found the same thing and just use my old nano, will see if you get any replys as to how to resolve.

You have to have content that is part of an Apple application (Apple music/iTunes, Apple Podcast App). As long as you have one piece of content in a native Apple App (I don't mean Spotify) ....the dock connector should see the phone.

Yes but it's worked since it's last visit.
Presume you're thinking that maybe a software update caused it?

Yes I think I did last week but again I'm 99% sure it was fine up until yesterday.

Indeed. As I think that's what caused mine to stop working frown

Regarding my thought about making sure you had at least some native Apple iTunes/Music/podcast content, you had said you use Spotify. Perhaps you had some Apple freebies that you inadvertently removed during the update? Can you confirm you still have some Apple content (not Spotify)?

Indeed it would have if that was the only item you had in Apple Music/iTunes!
