DBS values,, this is the future.AMDBSVNick said:
New kid on the block or just name change Dunno... Is circa 3500 cars produced a small number? Will this in itself make the DBS a desireable classic in the future? What other classic in recent history can we realistically compare it to?
We know rightly (and wrongly) I guess that the Bond movie connection helps too... As one of the "top of the range" Astons, how does the DBS compare to Vanquish 1 & 2 in terms of production numbers, Bond factor, and ultimately desirability?
Hopefully someone knowledgeable about this topic will provide some insight..
Although this discussion is somewhat interesting, it will however have no impact on my decision to keep or get rid of mine..

3,500 (was it that many) doesn't make it rare, at that number there should be (and is) a regular stream of them coming up for sale. I still tend to think of the DB5 (880 saloons) as being the starting point for rare
Having said that the manual car is rare so will attract a premium now that it's moving out of the realm of being a new car and into the enthusiast arena
And the fact that it's one of (if not the) nicest designs of the Gaydon era really stands in its favour
Slades do try and chance their arm though. Comes from being on the doorstep of a lot of wealthy households in beaconsfield/ Gerrards Cross etc

I still don't dEsire a Vanquish 2 or 2.5 for that matter. I think 2's will drop in value back to DBS levels or below due to lacking the 8sp ZF box in the 2.5
There will never be another car like the DBS IMHO hence why I agree with your last paragraph

Got to be honest, I don't regret the switch from the V12V (as wonderful as it is). I just like the DBS that bit (/lot) more.
It's completely killed my interest in the Vanquish, if I were to guess the early ones will no doubt be DBS money soon but I imagine the 2.2 will hold its value, until the S lands

Then if total production numbers actually matter.... Do we know what Vanq 1 & 2 production numbers are or will be?
The original Vanq was around 2578 (I think this includes the S)No idea on the newer ones, I'm sure we could work it out from the sales thread that is kicking around here
