advice on what?

What car to get or if your 9-5 is likely to explode in the next 1000 miles?

If you have the money to buy something else and want something else, then go ahead and buy it, but your Saab is probably only worth £500 and might end up having to scrap it or break it.

Edit - just seen your other post - if your car is using a litre of oil every 300 miles that must be fixed first!!!!!
You either have a leak to rival the torrey canyon or are burning enough to look like a destroyer 'making smoke'. Get the car fixed and healthy before you modify it.

bit of a harsh response there...........

at 239k there's probably quite a few things that could be done to liven up the car - depending on how well it's been looked after?
If it's had the PCV#6 mod and a sump drop and is not using much oil then should be good to go.

I'd consider the braking and handling first

Bilstein B8 dampers with Eibach springs
SAS anti-roll bars if you feel like it.
Smattering of polyurethane or OEM (use genuine Saab not aftermarket) rubber bushes to replace the tired ones.
Some decent tyres
Uprated front pads - yellowstuff, Ferodo ds2500 or ds3000 +/- braided brake lines and plain brembo discs. Don't bother with drilled or grooved etc as the plain ones work more than just fine.

Then speak to a chap called Karl about a stage 1 tune or add in a 3" downpipe and a 3.5 bar fuel pressure regulator, pass go and collect stage 3. Much beyond this and you'll be needing forged pistons and rods.

There is also the option of a much larger aftermarket intercooler from either KL racing in Sweden or Do88 via PFS.

The icing on the cake would be either a V6 diesel or Hirsch plastic intake snorkel and airbox along with a 2006-onwards TD-04 compressor cover plus King Cobra pipe..........and maybe a Quiafe ATB diff (essentialy an LSD) to help you get the power down better through the bends.
