+1 I watched the latest episode and enjoyed all the parts where Evans wasn't talking or in camera shot. Some one said this elsewhere, but the best bit was him coming in on the hospital trolley where he wasn't saying anything....I was hoping he would stay there for the whole program!

Yes its Top Gear, but why is Evans trying his hardest to sound and act like Clarkson?? One he isn't and two, why not do something different. The format was great, but that was with the other fellers. They don't do it anymore, so why not make something different and change the format slightly.....oh and get rid of Evans...he is trying too hard.....in fact he's just trying...

I watched Extra Gear first, bizarrely, but was struck by how much better Evans was on that as he was being interviewed about his emotional ride in the McLaren F1. Much calmer, far less shouty and what appeared to be unscripted. If he could come across like that on the main programme, he'd be on to a winner. I like MLB and Eddie Jordan is as mad as a box of frogs but quite entertaining with it. Production and filming was top line. Hating the whole audience cheering to decide who wins on first car choices etc - that's rubbish.

I thought the second episode was better than the first (might be something to do with driving to a pub).
I do think that extra gear has a you tube feel about it but they could integrate some of that element of that into the main programme.
Hopefully it will continue to mature and I can't wait for the Vulcan episode.
