I have never seen AMi III and would like to see the improvement over AMi II.

Does anyone know of any footage of AMi III on the internet?

Alternatively, if you have a car with AMi III, please can you post some footage of the interface?

AM IIIi starts MY17 which is effectively now, so its highly unlikely there have actually been any cars delivered with it yet. It is an evolution of AM IIi so suggest you have a play in your dealer with a car with AM IIi and just imagine a few minor tweaks to in a few areas...

There just doesn't seem to be a right lot of info out there other than a few snipits on the AM website on various pages

INTRODUCING AMi III

Vantage’s new infotainment system, AMi III brings ergonomic and interface refinements to create a fully intuitive experience. Key features include updated Satellite Navigation system, Bluetooth® as standard, text message integration and a wide range of connectivity options, including Apple CarPlay. Convenience is married to peerless style with an elegant new centre stack available in a wide variety of tactile finishes, touch sensitive switchgear featuring haptic feedback technology and a user interface that is completely intuitive.

My vantage has AMi II and I contacted Aston technical and asked if it could be upgraded to AMi III. I was told that when the MY17 cars were delivered then they would be working on a software upgrade to allow the III functions on the current AMi II cars. I specifically asked about Apple CarPlay and I assume from the reply that will be part of the upgrade.

If it can be upgraded that is great news!

Yes its nice that in principle it can be upgraded, but it rather depends on how much it costs and what the actual upgrades are. I don't know how good or bad the Nav is in AMi II, so that maybe worthwhile, but not sure I'd pay much for any of the other items listed above.

If Apple car play can be updated through firmware, it would be sufficient as that alone would solve the terrible GPS and add significant functionality!

I however doubt it... Aston is certainly not Tesla!

Just for your info this is the response.

There will eventually be an upgrade for the AMi II system which will convert it to AMi III with Apple CarPlay.

This upgrade should become available later in the year once the first AMi III cars have been delivered.

Work will then begin on the software update for AMi II.

Woot! Should hold me over until I see what the new look Vantage will be... I have half a mind to get the V12 manual S as I'm not sure it will live in the next one...

The V12 S manual that was doing the rounds of the dealers had a dummy version in it but the demo car that Edinburgh has in stock has the new system in it and working.

I had a quick flick through it a few weekends ago and it seemed fine enough. The screen is still very small but the graphics looked nice and to be honest, as long as it allows me to stream Spotify that's all I was worried about. I'm interested as to whether having it alongside the B&O sound system causes any issues but I'd assume not. However, I assumed that was the case with the bluetooth upgrade when it was released....

That's good. I have car play in the company berlingo van but would prefer it in my Aston. Any ideas when then update will be available?

If you mean the bluetooth upgrade for the previous system, I think it's available now, it was when it was released originally I had issues.

If you mean an upgrade to AMiIII then I've no idea, the demo car is a 2017 model so had it as standard.

cheers,

You have to laugh. Can anyone learn to speak in this way?

I just hope the TMI has also been integrated with the DSC.
It is probably very unwise to be driving and writing a text message, at the same time as the Dynamic Stability Control is operating.

Car manufacturers now seem to allow drivers to play with so many gadgets, when concentrating on just driving, perhaps ought to be the priority. Legislators don't seem worried about this recent trend by the car makers.

+1
Nice to be able to pull up various info if needed but when driving all I really need is tach and speedo. Could really care less what my tire pressure is or how many g's i just pulled in a corner.
I'm old school and also like to have a button to push or knob to turn that I can reach for without looking. When it all goes touch screen going to have to look away from the road to adjust heat, air, music ....

A bit off topic, but I think we can thank Apple for this. They've discovered that people love to interact with their touchscreen devices - and automakers want in on this to make their cars more appealing. Tesla, e.g., is building quite a following with things their cars can do that don't involve driving.

Of course if you commute with the car the infotainment bit is important. But for a performance car, they need to remember we want to interact with the car first and foremost. Its interesting how many Tesla owners think they have purchased a performance car - but in fact just have a touchscreen driven gaming system that can barely make a full lap of a track.

Music streaming via Bluetooth was introduced for the 15MY (previous versions can be upgraded for £££)

AMiII - (with the newer Vanquish style centre console) was introduced across the range for the 2016MY
[ Uses the nav screen as the main display for most functions. Aside from the better display/graphics (you can also choose your screens background themes) and enhanced software interface (+nav upgrades, etc) key new features are Vehicle Status (real time torque/bhp meter + tyre pressures) and the Message centre which can now display or dictate text messages]

AMiIII - (offers Apple Carplay and later in the year Android Auto, plus large Sat-Nav enhancements) - 2017MY

Hope this helps smile

is AMiII upgradeble to AMiIII? If so, how much?

What are the 'large' Sat Nav enhancements?
