is AMiII upgradeble to AMiIII? If so, how much?

What are the 'large' Sat Nav enhancements?
[/quote]

See above, it is a software upgrade according to Aston technical. I'm also keen to see what improvements there are to the Sat Nav.

Just picked up my 17MY V12VSR, for apple car play we are awaiting to a software update, don't quite know when but hopefully soon. Great explanation in the handbook but we shall have to wait and see.
@callevascm Does your car have AMiIII but without CarPlay, or AMiII and you are waiting for an update to III?

My 17MY V12VSR has AMiIII but not yet the functionality of Apple Car Play. The handbook describes the functionality and how to connect your iPhone to the USB port. I think it fair to say both the dealership and sales team all expected the Car Play to be functional on delivery. I am told a Factory Bulletin was issued this week but I haven't seen it. The explanation was that a software update was imminent (no date given). I have only driven 50 miles in the car and wasn't really concentrating on the AMiIII - certainly the satnav interface is different and appears more intuitive but not as good as Google Maps or Waze in my opinion hence the attraction of Car Play. However I am in no doubt that the car is absolutely wonderful - I now have had an extended drive in the manual box and although I have a Sportshift I can absolutely see the attraction of the manual box but believe I have the best transmission for our use. If I had had a test drive in a manual I would have been sorely tempted but suspect there have been further improvements in the sportshift software, the paddle changes are even better.

Apologies for the late reply, I'm away at the moment... this is the official press release regarding the sat nav upgrade. I have further detail but not to hand....... basically it is still Garmin based but has had some well thought out enhancements......smile

"Key areas of improvement are the integrated graphics, quicker and easier address input, reduced loading times, updatable maps, graphical itinerary planning, advanced traffic information, enhanced map graphics and a greater range of voice guidance options."

2017 Vanquish, infotainment screen and speakers repeatedly pop up and down. Anyone heard of this problem? Thank you.

Yes, the 2017 V12M that I test drove last week did that at start up first thing in the morning. Sat nav screen went up and down a few times. Only the once, and I'd forgotten about till I read that.

Thanks for the reply. My screen just keeps popping uo and down. Curious whether this is just my car or a more widespread problem.

There are a series of issues with the AMi III infotainment system that are being ironed out with software updates. My V12S is in the shop being sorted

Good evening,

I've just taken delivery of a MY17 Vantage V8S and have just started playing with AMi 3. The dealer insists it's a new system and not related to Garmin. I haven't seen enough of the old system to know. I've put a quick screen shot in and will hopefully have more up later....

  • If anyone knows how to rotate images using the beta upload function let me know and i'll fix the upside-down craziness **

If Apple car play can be updated through firmware, it would be sufficient as that alone would solve the terrible GPS and add significant functionality!

I however doubt it... Aston is certainly not Tesla!
I heard a rumour that Aston's latest (and future) ICE/Nav/etc hw/sw comes from the same supplier, via Daimler Chrysler, as Tesla.

Maybe I'm mistaken about that, but that is my understanding.

How long could this possibly take? My '17 has been in the shop since October 12 - after a prior 3 day visit. Beautiful car, but what's the point? Car was delivered in late September and has spent almost half its life in the shop.

Speak to James at Trackaphone, you can mirror your iPhones display to that on the Sat Screen.

Have a look on page 1 of the thread. It will be upgraded in the near future. Aston technical emailed me to confirm the work would start after the MY17 cars began to be delivered.

OK thanks. Usual mixed messages from AM and dealers it seems!

I spoke to Aston Martin today and they said the upgrade from AMII to AMIII/CarPlay requires new hardware and at this time there is no upgrade path.
