If you take the handbrake off your MPG will go up laugh

PS Where have the rear quarter windows disappeared to?
It's hidden under the huge amount of plastic disguise that car has on it. As far as I can see, only the doors and sills appear to be part of the actual car.

ETA - I'd actually go further and suggest that's a DB11 variant under all that plastic and not the new Vantage at all.....

The different photo angle explains the relative difference in front and rear overhang of the two pictures. Other than that, the two look pretty similar to me, even the wheelbase.

I believe you are spot on... Side vents, doors and over all proportions look identical.
Good work Sherlock!

Lets not forget that whilst on one hand there are plenty of journos privy to (but sworn to secrecy on) Aston's plans, there is also a lot of nonsense published, some deliberate and some not

For instance, some of us knew about Vanquish zagato including price & production numbers months ago, but post-villa d'este, the car mags were publishing stories suggesting 'AML have responded to the incredible reception the concept got at villa d'este and decided to put it into production......'

Getting back to the photos, if it's got a 4 ltr engine and it looks like a DB11, it is what it looks like, namely a DB11 testing with the V8 AMG 4.0 engine that most people have been aware will become an option in DB11 for 12 months or more now

Really? Seems a bit of an odd route on the model front.

I guess it could be DB11 with Vantage running gear under it. If they do as they did with the DB9/V8 Vantage there'll be much in common anyway.

Whatever they do, I hope it's much lighter and more compact than the outgoing car. Very much loved mine, but it needs less heft and a smaller footprint would be welcome too. Might even tempt me back in a couple of years smile (If it stacks up well with what others are offering),

odd route or not, they will be putting the amg v8 into DB11. If that's what you're getting at ?

It was.

So they'll have a twin turbo V12 DB11, a V8 (turbo'd I believe) DB11...and presumably the same engine options in the new Vantage. One ostensibly a 2+2 as long as the +2 is someone with no legs.

I can see why you'd put a bigger engine in the smaller car. But the logic going the other way escapes me. I can't imagine the price difference will be huge, and if anything Aston need to extend themselves the other way IMO.

Bentley have managed it very well with the GT! Some say the V8 is the better car than the W12! Oh and my kids have legs and fit in quite well thank you.

If I can remember correctly, Jonby recently explained that there is version of the 4 litre M-B engine, which produces almost the same power as the V12TT. The 4 litre is lighter and smaller than the V12TT, so can be set further back in the car.

I think in China, they no longer allow engines of more than 4 litres. That is probably the real answer to your question.

Yep, the AMG GT R launched this weekend at FOS

And yep, same situation as Bentley GT which I agree, many say is better in V8 guise

Distance from door to rear wheel is different, as is the distance from rear wheel to rear. 'Vantage' is 2 seater, DB11 is 2+0.2

At 6'4" if I set the Driver's seat in a DB9 so I can drive it properly, there is no room in the back. YMMV smile

I think the China comment would likely swing it.

I was trying to think who else does the same, and could only think of Bentley and Audi.

The lightness angle is also fair enough. I guess if they differentiate the car in terms of set up it may make some difference.

I'm still at a bit of a loss on AM's model strategy though...

Agree. The car certainly looks shorter than the DB11
