I've just received an MSI Z170A-G45 mobo with an i7 6700K CPU to swap out with my old Rampge 2/i7 920.
I've took extra precaution in the build as it's been a while since I've done one.
When completed I've plugged in the PSU and there's nothing, no LEDs at all lighting up.
I've tried just having the board and CPU plugged in but still no joy. I've tested the PSU with old board and that lights up.

I've contacted the vendor to hopefully get a replacement (this is part of a bundle deal) and really regretting no paying extra for the insurance now...

When removing the CPU I've noticed the pins on the motherboard are all bent inwards except for a few. Looking at the bottom side of the CPU there's no pins just pads. From memory it used to be the opposite where the pins are on the bottom side of the CPU. IS this normal or did I somehow bent the pins on the motherboard?
Again I took extra caution when seating the CPU...

I'm guessing the main reason why I'm not getting power is most probably due to the CPU? Is there anything else I should check for?

Intel desktop CPUs have used a Land Grid Array (pins on the motherboard, pads on the CPU) since the LGA775 Pentium 4's were introduced in 2004.

Insurance shouldn't matter. If you bought it mail order then you're covered by distance sellers rules, and any board should have at least a year warranty.

^ Agree with the above information.

I recently ordered a Mini ITX 775 Intel board and the seller even messaged to ask if all was working and to let him know if there were any issues when the item was delivered. I nice touch even though the board was only £20.

If it's damaged, get in touch with the seller to see if he will replace the item.

Which PSU are you using?
