how did you come up with Duxford Green? Is it a completely new colour?
We wanted the car to be green and take inspiration from the Olive Drab paint used on the aircraft. The brief was for a green so dark it would look black in low light. Duxford Green is close to another manufacturers colour, but not the same shade. We had a sample painted and against Kestral Tan it just works.

The interior and exterior colour combination is absolutely perfect!

I know this thread not active now, but I followed N3200 today to the Goodwood FOS and had a chat with the guy who owns it. What a great man sharing his knowledge of the car and showing those details that were made to make it special. What a fantastic car!!! That green is absolutely spot on.

Brilliant job and well done!

Hi AM forum friends, thought I would lighten your Friday afternoon with some Spitfire chat.

The Spitfire that flew on our handover day at Duxford has played a starring role in the new 'Dunkirk' feature film. N3200 has genuine Dunkirk provenance in that she flew out of Duxford on the 27th May 1940, was shot down over Dunkirk and crash landed on the beach. She disappeared under the sands until they shifted in the 1980's and N3200 reappeared. She was eventually shipped back to Duxford and restored by the Aircraft Restoration Company, the same company that made 3 x components for the V12 Vantage S Spitfire 80.

This is a really nice clip featuring John Romain, MD at ARC and pilot of N3200 at our handover, talking about how they made the flying scenes in the movie. If you have not seen it yet its worth seeing on the big screen so don't leave it too long! Worth taking 5 mins on a Friday afternoon to watch this:- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GYK50waPGA4

Thanks for posting Simon, that really is fascinating to hear and a great little video to watch.

I went to see Dunkirk last night at the cinema and whilst it was a relentless and harrowing watch, it really is a great film and has epic directing and production. Perhaps embarrassingly at my age, I knew little of the story of Dunkirk other than it was a very significant event in the war. The film not only tells the tale, but shows a taste of just how unbelievable it must have been to be there and to get the result the allies did. The part about the N3200 Spitfire was sensational and the aerial scenes were the highlight of the film for me.

I have perhaps been cynical about the used value of the car you have for sale, but I have to say I really do admire your enthusiasm for both Aston Martin and the RAF and the way you have combined them in your special editions and its the little, but very significant details such as the same company making some components for the Sptifire V12VS that really do add to the overall package greatly.

Owners of these cars really should be feeling particularly proud and special right now at a time when people are talking about the film and the events at Dunkirk.

I really do admire what you are doing for both AM and the RAF fund - please keep it up! smile

Thanks Adam, I really appreciate your feedback smile

With regards to the car we have for sale, it is with us on a sale or return basis. We have had an offer on the car north of £200k, but the owner wants closer to the asking price. Its very unlikely another one of the eight cars built will come up for sale in the near future, so if anyone wants to make an offer drop me a line on simon.lane@jardinemotors.co.uk , I will relay to the owner and we will see what happens. The car is worth what someone is prepared to pay for it. Link to the pics below:-

Got to take a look at this in the flesh when passing through Cambridge last weekend.

Whilst the price is a touch eye watering, it really is fantastic how much detail has been put into these. Truly spectacular car.

Certainly makes a compelling case for raffle tickets for the Vanquish!!

It’s been 12 x months since we released this beautiful film of the Spitfire 80 handover at IWM Duxford online. In the first week it was watched over 700,000 times on Facebook alone, breaking the record for any film ever released on the AM Facebook channel up to that point (subsequently overtaken by AMs own tyre smoking St Athan film). Still, not a bad effort for a little dealership in Cambridgeshire smile

You can watch it again here https://www.facebook.com/AstonMartinCambridge/vide...
