I'm really liking the mesh hood/bonnet inserts instead of the carbon fiber louvers. Looks much cleaner.
I'm with Bentley01 on this, the carbon fibre finishes off the V12S for me and is one of the things a lot of people ask about when looking at the car. Each to their own but for me it is AM trying to rake in a bit more money on extras, still a lovely car though.

Really? Looks like a cost cutting exercise to meV8V Pete said:
Agree. Having seen them in the flesh I don't think it is progress. Nor do I like the (white) stripes at all. Are they paint or are they removable stickers?
I'm with you Pete. I think if you change the CF vents for some wire ones it can only be viewed as cost saving or profit enhancing. I am very happy to have the CF vents on mine. A couple of pictures to compare. Poor quality but you get the idea.As for the stripes.........
Not stickers or wrap - they were painted on. AM went for this graphics pack on all of their stock/demo V12VS manual cars AFAIK. I wouldn't have minded if the combo was darker graphics on a lighter background,e.g., a dark graphics pack on China Grey. But I agree that white / yellow graphics do look discordant.
Also, for me - if it's a V12 Vantage/S - it should have carbon fibre hood vents.

I would never have a V12V with the mesh grills awful. Agree C977 the cost cutting on this model with all the bits that where standard on the original car is a joke imo. I hate the gear lever as well! In fact i much prefer my model. thank god for that.

Another way of thinking about it is that these are profit increasing measures rather than cost cutting measures. If this approach helps contribute to the longterm survival of AML then I think all of us would be happy. It is perfectly possible to spec a car to the standards of the high standard spec of the original V12V but you'll just have to pay a bit more (which most people buying these cars new clearly can).

What a load of rubbish. So for every luxury item you buy you're happy if the manufacturers start cutting corners so that they can make more profit. The whole "raison d'être" for Aston Martin in today's competitive marketplace is that it has a touch of luxury attached to it. This all supports the brand image. The moment you start cutting back on that you loose the perceived premium position and then I am afraid it only goes downhil from there as Aston Martin has few other attributes where it scores highly vis-a-vis the competition. There should always be a touch of exuberance and attention to detail in an Aston Martin. A plastic filler cap or metal mesh does nothing to add to the brand image and the savings AML make there are nothing compared to loss of brand image that goes with it.V8V Pete said:

I hope that you do not mind Pete - small correction.
'these are profit increasing measures'
Should be - 'these are loss reduction measures'.
I hate the sound of a plastic petrol filler cap.
The metal caps were another beautiful piece of art on our cars.
I thought not putting a name badge on the car was bad enough, but really.
How far is this trend going to go?

So £3K to make it a proper V12V? Its like buying a RS Porsche and then having to pay extra for the rear wing!
and £1995 for the internal CF door pullsand £195 for the rear decklid "V12 Vantage S" badge
and £495 for Corsa Tyres (although the std P-Zeros are my preference anyway having driven my V12V on both)
and £695 for the high line console if that's your preference
and £395 for the rear cabin to be in leather, not the now free carpet
and Im sure some of the basic leather/alacantra options are now chargeable that were previously free...
then it would be pretty much the same spec as an old V12V
But other than that.... ;p

All of which I considered to be essentials, and are on the car i'm trading in for it! Frustrating. However, biggest disappointment in the process so far, cant have Union Jack wings. and £195 for the rear decklid "V12 Vantage S" badge

Indeed on my test drive did have the feeling that the interior was a bit low rent. Is this situation new for 2017 MY - or is it the case for older V12S's as well?and £195 for the rear decklid "V12 Vantage S" badge

Its a bit of a steady decline each year, although MY17 has introduced more than normal amount of these - the majority, but not all of the above.Gassing Station | Aston Martin | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
