Gents,

Firstly thanks for the replies, some research to be done tonight. Adam thanks very much especially, you've been through this pain yourself so going through it again is much appreciated.

The black GT12 with the red carbon is nice, as is the car on the link posted by SFO, that's definitely a contender. The red painted side panel on the GT12 distracts my eye a lot but it's a stunning car.

Amethyst Red is lovely as is Amethyst Violet but my old V8V was AV so not sure I'd do that again. The Amethyst Red is just different enough. Lava Red isn't available, it's reserved for the Zagatos. I'll check out Volcano red though. Red Lion is another red option, it's as rare as Cherry Tree it seems.

Tungsten silver is really nice so if Scintilla is similar then that sounds like it would go well with red carbon. I'm going roadster so need to think roof colour as well. Magnetic Silver on that DB11 is stunning.

Ultramarine sounds like the BMW carbon black, it had a blue flake through it if I remember correctly from E46 M3 days. Storm back with a red flake is a good shout. I quite like the thought of the blue flake and the red carbon.

The list is narrowing...thanks again for the help.

cheers,

Thanks again gents!

Gibbon, really like the Red Lion and I'd say you've done a good job getting the colour, it's very similar to the one photo I have of it and that was taken outside in natural light. ps. It's not JUST anything, it's an Aston Martin ;-)

Cherry tree is really nice. Brave choice but that wouldn't bother me. It's a more bold version of Amethyst Red I suppose.

Ultramarine sounds better the more I think about it. Thanks Hashluck.

SFO, you're spot on about the lighter colours. Any of the light silvers or china grey would look great with the red contrast.

I can see a pattern here, the colours that work with red carbon are my least favoured paint colours and my favoured paint colours don't work with red carbon. Looks like a compromise is in order.

cheers,

DocW - Not sure what the latest iteration is like but the combination of the red flake and red carbon sounds great. I'm just a bit hesitant on going for black when I've just had a carbon black car.

Adam - the other coloured carbons are nice, that green is amazing and would look incredible on the right car. Not sure it's for an Aston though :-). The price for the red carbon is relatively reasonable I think but that could be the man maths correction factor kicking in.

I'm down to two colours so have put the full provisional spec together and will find out if it's all possible and available. Q seem to have some strange ideas on what they will or will not do. I don't get restricting certain paint colours when you have put it on a press car. Anyhow, let's see, whichever combo I go for it's going to be bold!

cheers,

What a fun process.
Haha, you would think so wouldn't you but in all honesty I'm finding it a bit stressful. It's the pressure of spending all that money and possibly making a complete *rse of it! Actually, that's not quite true but I do have a concern over my inbuilt lack of taste!

The two colours? Oh those, they were so yesterday....biggrin

There seems to be a lot of Ultramarine cars with Dark Night interiors for sale in the US for some reason. The combination looks great. I was trawling through for sale adverts last night and came across a white DBS volante with cream truffle interior, the full Miami Vice spec! It would look great on Ocean Drive.

Like you hashluck, I'm trying to avoid a black interior, which just adds another complication to the equation since it goes with just about any paint colour.

That combination you have of the Ultramarine and Black Damson is fantastic. I'd thought about Black Damson depending on the exterior colour. Ultramarine must look stunning in bright sunlight. I'll try and find some pics of Pure Black. I'm a big fan of red, white and blue together so Dark Night is my default interior colour.

cheers,

Looks quite good in that colour scheme, the interior especially. I've only spent an hour or so in the lightweight seats but just about the first thing on my spec list was lightweights. They change the feel of the whole car.

Autocar have finally published the feature on the V12VSM -vs- the GT-R

Autocar: Which is fastest? Nissan GT-R takes on Aston Martin V12 Vantage S

Short but enjoyable review even if it involves a Datsun. wink
Really good video that, I enjoyed it as well and thought it summed the Vantage up pretty well. It didn't exactly sell the GT-R very well did it! :-).

Now there's an open ended proposition! It's just as well they have tolerant customers that really want the product is all I can say. I'm 99% there but it's hard work!

However, it's all going to be worth it next April, that's the main thing.

AM Edinburgh have just got in an SSIII V12VS coupe in Flugplatz and it's a stunner from the photos I saw.

And yes, I'm still trying to finalise my spec....as much my fault as Q to be fair.

Well it's taken forever but I finally got to see my car a few days ago. There are still a couple of finishing touches to complete it but it looks incredible. The spec took me forever to settle on but in the end I think it came out pretty well. Thanks to Stuart at AM Edinburgh for putting up with my endless changes and tinkering.

In terms of spec and options, I'll just say, it doesn't have black pedals or a red stitch at 12 on the steering wheel. Other than that, there's not much that isn't on it and I'm regretting not getting the stitch done.

It also sounds as good as it looks with the secondary cats gone. I can only imagine how good it's going to sound when I put Clive's remote switch on the exhaust valves as well.

Merry Christmas everybody. Cheers!

Thanks, I'm pretty chuffed with it.

The paint is Red Lion, seems like there's not a lot of it about. As always, the photos don't do it justice. It looks flat in some lights but it's metallic and there's a multitude of tones depending upon what angle you're looking at it.

All of the carbon inside and out, with the exception of the seats, is red with a satin finish. You can't get red carbon with a gloss finish anymore. I was worried if there was going to be enough contrast between the red carbon and red paint but there is and it's better in the flesh.

Congrats - a long wait indeed, but well worthwhile. It is absolutely stunning in Red Lion! thumbup

Love your little personal touches such as the red "S" on the seat headrest embroidery too - very nice. A perfect Xmas present to yourself smile
Thanks for the comments! Yes, it's a first for a roadster with the sports plus pack interior, as far as I know anyway.

Thanks Adam for all the help on the specs, you did a lot of the hard work when you were spec'ing Kermit. The seats look great but they're going to look better once the new ones are fitted. The red "S" will still be there but there's a subtle change to be done. I'll post pics when they are done. The rotaries are still to be changed as well, to black with the red detail.

Work in progress....

Cheers.

Not sure why you would be quoted so much, the black rotaries are on the options list and I wouldn't have paid that for them. I refused to pay for the red stitch on the steering wheel because I just considered it extortionate but lots of other people have it. Who knows!

The seats are very nearly spot on but there is one of the panels on each seat that's not quite spot on. Apart from that I agree, they do look good.

Should all be sorted out very soon and it'll be ready to go.

Yes, you're correct, it needs the ski slope out and the whole unit including the electronics changed. The alloy bit can't be changed by itself. I assume it's because you're buying new units completely and paying for anodising rather than having yours anodised or buying them as part of the car purchase. I'm probably paying it as part of the overall cost.

Both the leather and the alcantara are pure black. The leather is Caithness which is the higher spec after I read that some folks weren't too happy with the standard leather.

The rotaries are black anodised with a red ring around them. Not sure how they do the red as I've not seen them in person but it looks almost like a red o-ring around the circumference in the photos I saw. The dealer is doing it because the factory didn't have any when the car was sent out.

Can't wait to drive it, the noise of the decat'd exhaust and open valves with the roof down is what I'm looking forward to most.

Cheers.
