I am just perusing the V12 Vantage S option list. I assume you can get the proper bonnet vents as part of ECP4 Exterior Carbon Pack - Vantage £2995. Does anyone know what is also included in this option?

Can anyone help with regards the wheel options? What do the standard silver wheels and the lightweight wheels look like, and is it worth specifying the lightweights at an additional cost of £2995?

Many thanks

Steve
As far as I'm aware the exterior carbon you've mentioned is just for the bonnet louvres.
A must IMHO.

The standard no cost wheel is shown here on Adam's new V12S...

Those mesh vents are a travesty.

I agree the carbon bonnet louvres are a must. The lightweight wheels aren't.

No the bonnet vents are NOT included in the Exterior Carbon Pack. That pack includes the side strakes, wing mirror caps, door handles and rear lamp infills - but does represent better value than buying them individually (as effectively the rear lamp infills are thrown in for free in the pack).

The original CF Bonnet vents are their own item and are now priced at £1995

Or half that if you buy aftermarket and you get to keep/sell the OEM kit you take off.

On the bonnet vents, those mesh ones are soft as pewter. Anyone whose had a V8V or other with mesh bonnet vents knows very well not to press on them. Vents of this size will get murdered way to easily. You'll never get them flat again if you do press on them.

Both are a must in my opinion. Anything going towards reduction of unsprung mass like carbon ceramic discs and lightweight wheels can only be beneficial. You can also have them in silver if you don't like black.

Good point, my old V8 ones were dented.

I like the bonnet meshes, they are more subtle; and they don't cost £2k!

And they will be rarer than cars with CF louvres!

I doubt there is any appreciable weight difference between the meshes and the CF louvres

I would not spend money on CF items except for satin cuprum carbon fibre waterfall

How much lighter are the lightweight wheels than the standard?

I have checked, and there are currently new AM Zagato Vantage V12 wheels available for £3500. I was thinking of specifying standard wheels and putting on tyres suitable for winter driving. Then buying a second set of wheels such as the Zagato ones for £500 more than the additional cost of specifying lightweights from AM. I could then put on summer biased tyres on the second set of wheels.

Good choice and idea.

I think just over 1kg per wheel.

Unsprung weight versus sprung weight is about 4:1 so taking 1kg off the 4 wheel/tire/brake assembly is equivalent to taking 16kg out of the vehicle. That's what my instructor at my PDC in Millbrook told me.

Autocar have finally published the feature on the V12VSM -vs- the GT-R

Autocar: Which is fastest? Nissan GT-R takes on Aston Martin V12 Vantage S

Short but enjoyable review even if it involves a Datsun. wink

Really good video that, I enjoyed it as well and thought it summed the Vantage up pretty well. It didn't exactly sell the GT-R very well did it! :-).

Now there's an open ended proposition! It's just as well they have tolerant customers that really want the product is all I can say. I'm 99% there but it's hard work!

However, it's all going to be worth it next April, that's the main thing.
