The owner does not want to take the liability of supplying a part to the repairing garage as the garage may then disclaim all liability should the job not be done correctly. Which is quite possible.
Owner gets frustrated at AM for not supplying spare parts for cars that are ultimately still in production.

You did miss a few bits out but it matters not one jot now - fantastic news that you'll maybe be able to attach a brand new piece of plastic to your car in 4 months time, and not an identical bit of plastic but of unknown provenance.Really pleased for you OP and thanks for your incredible banter and good humor
