Would you buy a red Aston?
Discussion
UPDATE.....
Phoned and spoke to the dealer and expressed my concerns about the colour and resale opportunities, it is TORRO red. He said that although a wider pool of people would potentially prefer the grey, silver and black colours, the minority that like red would be more likely to buy it because it was red and therefore a sale would be more likely amongst that pool......I'm still trying to fathom that out and work out if it is true or not...I was put off a bit after that but since reading your comments I'm having seconds thoughts and perhaps should go for it.....but there is one other thing that is bugging me.....the sportshift gearbox.
I've test driven a 4.7 with the updated box and found it fine.....but I've not driven the 4.3 with the older box as the dealer I went to didn't have one in stock. The Grange dealer said that I should find a local 4.3 and try it as it's an aquired taste and is quite different to the sportshift 2 with the creep mode, a bit snatchy when cold and the need for clutch learns......so one more thing guys....what's it like in reality? Am I worrying over nothing? I will drive a 4.3 very soon but I will be interested in your comments...
Cheers again.

To repeat, if you like it, buy it. You'll be able to sell it. Mine is Onyx Black, which I think is gorgeous, but not exactly unusual. When I first got it and went for a drive, I saw another V8V on the road (which hardly ever happens) -- in Toro Red. I though it looked fantastic. I had a brief conversation with the other driver, who told me he liked my car's color better. I laughed and told him I thought his was stunning!
My brother has decided to sell his RED Vantage S would be interested in what people think he should ask for it Dec 11 car with 38k miles, full carbon front and rear splitters, it cost 119k new ..... 4 owners, purchased from Stratstone Wilmslow and maintained by them....sold with 12 months Aston Warranty .......I thought 50k isn ?
Before my Vantage, I had a 996 turbo in a similar colour.
At the time, I'd been browsing the classifieds for a while but not seriously. But I fell in love with the colour - it was a sunny Saturday, the car wasn't too far so I went and saw it. Loved it, arranged a test drive and owned it a few weeks later.
When I sold it, the serious buyers absolutely loved the color - it was a big plus point and it sold easily.
My Vantage is black, and I think it's a colour that suits the car. But I would happily have bought that colour if it had been for sale when I was shopping.
I think it's true that you will have a smaller circle of potential buyers when you come to sell, but I'd also say that for some of those buyers the colour will be a big plus point.

Okay so to actually answer your question regarding the updated box: you should just try it. Call up a few dealers in your area and im sure someone can let you have a back2back drive.I've test driven a 4.7 with the updated box and found it fine.....but I've not driven the 4.3 with the older box as the dealer I went to didn't have one in stock. Well, I decided to buy a 4.3 manual as a first Vantage, so didnt dive deep enough.
You not looking for a manual then i guess?
Best of luck

I think he is right. I'd rather have it in red rather than grey, silver or black for one.Phoned and spoke to the dealer and expressed my concerns about the colour and resale opportunities, it is TORRO red. I definitely depends on the shade of red. I wouldn't have a Ferrari red, but a deep metallic red can look nice.
Spoke to a guy a while back who bought a red Aston and he said he was asked to put down a bigger deposit than usual as the dealer would find it harder to sell if he pulled out.

A V8 Aston is criminal - they should all have a V12! Do you really want to buy the girls model?
Choice between a girl or a transgender...tricky one for some OP - some of the reds look great (Toro amongst them, and the later one shown on the Vanquish). I would consider one without doubt.
The purple one looks great IMO (Amethyst?), but will be very rare. There was a V12V for sale in this colour that I'd have snapped up were I in the market for a transgender motor vehicle
Blue was my first choice back in 2007 but every single blue one I looked at had a blue interior. And Aston has a very good knack of making blue leather look like pleather.
I ended up with a black car. And will never buy a black car again of any description, even if I take up undertaking. Or taxi driving.
Oh dear....quick update..... I went a drove a local 4.3 with the sportshift box to see how much different it was to the 4.7 sportshift II that I had test driven before. I found it ok and as I don't drive around like a 17 yr old anymore it behaved ok and I could definitely live it.
So, I emailed the dealer today and expressed my interest and asked if we could continue our chat about it. Unfortunately he came back to me and said it had been sold over the weekend.....and to cap it all another one I had half an eye on appears to also have been sold....he who hesitates I guess.....the search continues.
