Divine Red V12S at Aston Martin Works earlier today. Yes I know it doesn't look red in the photo!

I saw a V8V in Divine Red at AM Handforth Dean yesterday, ready to be delivered to the customer. The car was outside and the sun was shining. It looked absolutely stunning.

Yes, someone else putting a deposit on it!

Check for the paintwork bubbling. Around the handles and wing mirrors seem most prone
There is a deposit on it......mine. wink.....refundable if I don't like it, arranged to see it next week its at AM Walton on Thames.....my only issue is that I like the clear lenses as opposed to the red ones and they're expensive to retro fit. We'll see, they may grow on me.

excellent

maybe getting them to switch the lens to clear could be part of the a deal? Guessing it will cost them a lot less to do? Just a thought

Hi take a look when you get there as the red lenses go really well with the red car and blend in quite nicely.

Enjoy and try everything, especially electrical stuff.

Yes I will do, red lenses are growing on me....a bit. I'll check everything out but as it's from an Aston dealer I'd be disappointed if there was something that didn't work. I'm struggling to find 2 pics of toro red that look the same....the dealer pic looks a bit flat but the one above looks fantastic which is encouraging. There are a couple of you tube vids of toro red Vantages which look great too so I'm hopeful that this could be the one.

I absolutely love Toro Red. Today I did the maintenance on the one my buddy just bought (the pic a couple posts above), and it's just stunning. I personally don't like red tail lights on a red car, and I'm encouraging him to make a few changes (swap the front orange corner lights for ones like mine, and swap the red tail lights for clear). He's also thinking about buying the spare N420 carbon fiber front lip that I have (I put it on his car to show him the look, and it's wonderful).

Couple more pics of that car from today, both with an iPhone 7, no filters or anything like that.

I noticed there's a Divine Red V12VSM in Works when I went in today.

Looks absolutely stunning! Would be ideal for someone who likes a red Aston, a V12, a Vantage and of course a manual!!
yes

Ok so a quick update....I went to see it in the flesh today. It is very nice and in excellent condition. As luck would have it, Dave, a professional test driver employed by Aston was there as they frequent the dealers was a month to take customers out. My wife went out first and then I went with him where he explained the quirks and idiosyncrasies of the SS1 gearbox. It hasn't had its 140 point check yet which will throw up 2 front tyres and couple of other things. Then it was over to the negotiation, they were firm on the price but as a goodwill offer they threw in some Formula 1 paint and upholstery protection (any good?), 6 months tax, full tank of fuel, trade price service in February and 2 tickets fo a tour around the factory.....so what do you guys think? Good deal? A couple of pics I managed to take........

I'm really not a fan of SS1. You definitely need to get some miles in one to know how well it will suit you IMO. It's foibles can be driven round to an extent. But when the manual's very good, why bother? The whole point of paddleshift cars is that they can do the job better than a manual. SS1 doesn't on most levels for a road car (again IMO).

The paint/upholstery protection seems to be something a lot of main dealers/marques are peddling. I guess it might be worth something to some, but not much - my interior looked cracking after 55k miles and was never touched with such snake oil. The exterior less so but no amount of "F1" paint protection would have stopped that as it started under the paint...

6mths tax is £250 or so? A tank of fuel about £80? How much are they talking ref the service? Wouldn't be the first time for Aston to contribute to something, only for you to find you could have got it cheaper anyway.

Basically they're offering you close to nothing off the car. Approaching winter. On a soft top. With a gearbox that isn't well loved.

I'd be haggling harder personally. I'd definitely want to spend more time in the car to make sure it's for you, and to try some manuals.

How can they thrown in 6 months tax? You mean knock a bit off the invoice?

Is the car from a main dealer? If so, my understanding is that if the car is less than 6 months away from when its next service is due then this should be done as part of the deal/package. It certainly was on my Vantage S when I bought it last year - the 2 year service was done literally 1 day after it was 18 months old. Unnecessary perhaps but I wasn't going to complain was I? Does bring up the question as to when you do the "3 year" service but whatever. Anyway, my point is that doing the service at "trade price" in February may not be such a good deal.

Personally, I wouldn't let them put the protection stuff on. Get them to correct any interior leather defects and major paint defects (bubbling around door handles and mirror mounts?) then get the car properly detailed by a specialist afterwards - we even have our own detailer in the AML Pistonheads community, he is totally awesome and his handle is Paddy328.

6 months tax, tank of fuel and factory tour all good.

Then think about things they can do/get done for less than they would charge you. Good examples are glass switches and full geo check/adjustment - I got both of these "free".

If you're happy then go for it and enjoy biggrin

Exactly what V8VPete said.
I wanted to "haggle" more on my car but its was from Works and I was on a mobile in the desert.
Paint/Leather protection, ignore.
Car cover is probably better, more useful choice.
Factory tour...meh, just wait until next Sunday Service there.
Service...you should be ensuring you don't need to see them for at least a year.

But I would hold out for a manual. But I am biased.
