Thank you pac man for joining up yourself and your friend: the first of the Italians... wink Great car by the way!

Dave: you're gonna be in charge of cooking... biggrin

avinalarf: Makes sense. The first time you decide to wrote something serious the mods delete the entire thread. They clearly think something's gone wrong... wink

Your mistaken Nij, pacman isn't Italian,he's from Essex.
Last time I looked Essex was in the UK,of course he could be an Italian that lives in Essex, but I don't think so.
Paul isn't a particularly Italian name ,now if he was Valentino or Claudio that might be a strong clue, mind you there was a Pope Paul......Pope Paul VI......but he died in 1978,so unless he's been resurrected, which is possible, but a bit of a long shot............nah I don't think he's Italian.
Yep,I thought there might be something amiss about that topic, lots of grey Vantages for sale,in fact it's difficult to find one for sale that isn't grey.

If you are short of a McLaren or 2 let me know as I am sure I can find a couple of willing folk.
Although with Avinalarfs new contacts I am sure he can ask Tim to bring his new 675 LT Spider biggrin:
How about it Waremark ?
I would very much like to meet your son,and see his McLaren.
Of course I'd give him the benefit of my media experience,an added bonus. wink
I cannot believe he will be able to resist an offer like that Mr Laughing Man. Well, maybe he will. Sadly I cannot make it. It's old age - well, the new middle age. A young friend is celebrating reaching 60 on that day. Nij, have you managed to get buy in from Mrs Nij this time?

Hello Mark, yes Mrs Maximus aka Seema, will be attending. She will be hosting the girls who turn up to stop them getting bored... biggrin

You may want to rephrase that comment.

Greetings Earth Men.

Are residents of our fine county allowed to participate or will it be purely for other, more well-heeled folk from the Home Counties coming to gawp and poke fun at us less-fortunates, such as one may have done at a public hanging at Tyburn or down here in Canewdon for a Witch-Dipping ?

If you would condescend to allow us entry, Lady Rowley could be Wing-Woman to your own Mrs Nij and much to Avin's enlightenment, could demonstrate that not all V8 Vantages are Fifty Shades of Grey. She would of course be wearing her white stilletos to match her handbag, which she may deposit in the centre of the cars prior to the dancing. (Knew I should have bought her the Sports Shift - costs me a fortune at Car Marts R Us).

Would you like us to supply the jellied eels and cockles from the World Famous (apparently cited on Eastenders!) Leigh on Sea Cockle Sheds? Or Mersey Shed oysters, tide permitting?

From the photo, Avin's scarf selection might be well appreciated around Crays Hill, where our local Roma community don such apparel to exercise there pony & traps.

Is it not a bit early to be drunk, old chap ?
That notwithstanding, from the odd bits of your post that I could understand,I comment thus........
Your partner, from your description of her choice of footwear, appears to come from Essex,we all have our crosses to bear.
As for Roma, a most colourful community of good folk.
I do not always wear a scarf,it depends on my ensemble du jour.
I would not wish to be defined by my wearing of a scarf.

Congratulation. You've just won post of the year. smile

I can't even begin to write up a worthy response while on holiday so please bring your wife your car, your cockles and your stilettos and add yourself to the list. wink

Just trying to help out Nij.
After all, we don't want any old riff raff coming along,do we ?
Oh no,standards must be maintained.
Already we have peeps from Essex,Kent and now our verbose friend from Spain.....enough is enough.
I was a member of AMOC but had to stand down because of their habit of wearing red trousers.

A scarf on a really hot day is clearly an ideal unique fashion ststement.
I cannot think what the statement might say though.
You could even become avinascarf smile

I'll take that as a tentative acceptance for now then. (Would add a thumbs up emoji if I could make the damned things work).

Nij, if you're still in bella Venezia, I assume you are at The Lido ?

Never been to that one and read reports last year it was looking tired (bit of a "grand old lady " - like me I spoze) but was scheduled for renovation.
1) are you at the Lido ?
2) what's it like ?

I love Venice, 'Er Ladyship loves beaches so........

Avin's assessment of Essex Girls has been corroborated this morning as I spent an hour tying bloody ribbons onto Lady R's Vantage to take Our Kid's Bird to their chum's wedding....Very Essex indeed.

Meanwhile, I'm awf back darn The Arterial to Sarfend to blag anuva bank and do a drugs deal....Must keep up appearances yah know.

I must say, it's very stylish to be able to wear a scarf. Unfortunately, I'm too fat and sweaty to pull it off....Unless it's winter. I do have one of those Yossa Arafat ones for away games though.

AMOC Update: since Russell's concerted efforts to rid the Club of "redtrouserwkeritis", they are now very few and far between - demonstrated at Burghley this year. However, this deadful affliction/affectation seems to have breached La Grande Manche, as there were many Foreign Johnnies roaming large in red troos at Le Mans Classic last month - and in all that heat! Thank the Fashion-Buddha for Brexit.

Nothing tentative about it my friend. Put yourself down on the list! smile

We're on Venice Lido - we're staying at the Hotel Excelsior and currently drinking wine on the beach. Amazing place but spending majority of our time in central Venice.

Need to go before wife realises "I'm on Piston Heads again(!)".... biggrin

Good effort with the pun Jon,made me chuckle.
I must say that our Spanish friend,El Toro, appears to be becoming even more inebriated as the day progresses.
He sounds like a cross between Vinnie Jones and Ronnie Kray.

Thank you Nij.
Excelsior - that's the kiddie. Sounds great. Hotel launch to Piazza San Marco no doubt. Excellent.

Ah Avin, Vinny and Ronnie - true Essex Icons, shame neither of them were products of The Marshlands, East of The Metropolis.
