INSURANCE (again)
Discussion
Just in case this is of help to anyone.
I have been using Aviva (broker arranged), originally because they allow a choice of repairer.
Insurance premiums obviously vary considerably, depending upon different personal circumstances. My premium last year was £500. This year, renewal was invited at £550. I would have been happy with that, but was recently sent a Barclaycard leaflet for Aviva, that offered a 10% refund. I now have an Aviva policy which cost £310 net.
In this mad modern world, we all find that new customers often pay far less than existing loyal customers. If you happen to use Aviva and also have a Barclaycard, you could try barclaycard.co.uk/moneyback2 at renewal time.

Sounds like a bargain, but I don't understand - how is £550, less 10% equal to £310?
£550 is the present Aviva policy renewal (through a broker).
Going to Aviva, via the Barclaycard offers webpage, produced a new policy quotation of £345. Barclaycard then credit back 10%, hence £310 net.

Do they ask for a Tracker Jon? TIA.
Not previously, and there was no question about that on the new policy on-line proposal. If they required one, surely there would have been a question, but when available, I will read through the policy wording to make sure.
It hasn't been a requirement previously and wasn't mentioned anywhere else.
So definitely worth checking the wording carefully.
Just tried the Barclaycard/Aviva promotion...
Its worth noting that it says it is being withdrawn after the 15th Dec, so get your quotes quick!
Also worth saying that it only allows a maximum value of £100k online, but I was able to increase that by calling them.
They were indeed cheaper (just over 10% plus there is the further 10% rebate on the Barclaycard rebate), however the quote was most definitely NOT covering on an agreed value and they refused to offer such. It was Market Value only and he explained that would mean an offer would be on the book value at the time, so that obviously wouldn't pay out the same as Locktons.
Their compulsory excess based on the value was £2650 on all claims, against a excess of just £250 with Locktons.
So I will be staying with Locktons this year again, but it was interesting however to compare, and if you want a cheap policy then Aviva seem to tick that box.

Hi
Try a quote from NFU. I was with Aviva and coming in at 585. A friend of mine with a v12v recommended NFU. so as ive also a v12v I rang them. price came in at 345 which includes breakdown cover. The only main difference is theft excess which is 1700.
Also worth noting NFU is voted one of the best insurers for customer service as I wouldn't go with any old company just for price.
worth a call if youre looking to renew
cheers

Thats a good quote!
If i may chip in on the NFU discussion:
We now have 4 Astons with them (as well as other cars, horses etc) and I have checked and double checked with them re trackers for the Astons - confirmed as NOT required.
As for price, well this year I've added a Vanquish 2, an N430 and a DBS to the policy - all for the grand sum total of an extra of 926!! Bizarrely, it costs us more for a stock GTi than a Vanquish 2!
Would defo recommend them.
Cheers,
Andy
