Have you, Halb? Incidentally, while you're waiting for replies to come up, there was an interesting thread on this very topic a year or two back.

Come to that, what are any of us doing in the science forum? I didn't even know there was one!

Prepare to be attacked by Eric with a meat cleaver, and move the thread to the 'Not Science But It Was On Channel 5' forum.

Personally, I think it's all a load of nonsense.

My mum went to see a medium (not sure what happened to the large or small) a few years ago. Filled her head with some rubbish about her unborn (miscarriage) first child being a boy and watching over her etc. Obviously, it got my mum emotional and upset her.

She also told her she was going on an aeroplane soon. Wow. Maybe the medium worked with Thomas Cook?

It's the new way of PH targeting adverts. They have found a way of projecting the ad directly into your head.

I wondered why I was trying to arrange an Infiniti test drive earlier, despite walking to work.

I think the human brain is very good at or prone to trying to process our perceptions into something familiar or understandable.

I have 'seen' people that have turned out to be a play of light and shadow on uneven surfaces such as trees and shrubbery. I once 'saw' the second hand sweep around a clock which had not worked for months.

Like deities the paranormal is just wishful thinking, though I wouldn't mind being proved wrong, it would make the universe an even more interesting place.

Here's my theory, we're st at body language, our whole way of determining the intentions of other people is faces and what signals they are portraying, I'd hazard a guess our optical system is almost completely geared towards recognising what signals another face is trying to portray.

When we momentarily look at an object the first thing our brain does when trying to put blocks of wtf is that in the fisher price holes of our brain is try the face shape first, hence why so many of us while glancing at something and quickly looking away see a face. When we look back and our brain has more time it see's whats actually there.

Did you know this has more or less been developed and realised - that hyper-focused sound can be shot at you so only you can hear it, those around you can't?

I don't like the sound of that. getmecoat

We do faces, evolution did that for us, we also do fight or flight. The eye/brain combination and a persons, er, being for want of a word set the scene. There is also a lot of tribal following for want of another term. Self affirmation becomes a group thing. When I younger it was interesting to point at the sky in a busy shopping area and shout "LOOK" and people would, some kept looking.

So do I, however I know who it is.... my bloody Cocker Spaniel can't resist a sock to carry from room to room. All whilst his perpetual motion wagging tail knocks things over.
