I know its a nightmare.

I'm thinking of part driving / part travelling by train this weekend. Are there any stations (or areas around stations) that I can park for the weekend, then nip on the train into town.

(I'm not precious about my car.)

Cheers

Depends where you're coming from. If you're on the M23-A23, park at Patcham and just catch the 5/A/B bus into the centre.

Haven't been for a little while but used to park in the Marina and get the number 7 bus into town.

Can I leave my car at these locations free of charge?

They do a park'n'ride i.,e. you park out of town and then take the bus in.

As said above, I used to park in the Marina and walk it in along the beach, they had signs up (saying parking for customers/time limited or something) but never enforced, was many years ago mind so don't know about now.

For stations nearby, just streetside/streetview the streets around the stations convenient for you and see if zoned parking or not.

There's residents parking areas covering most of southern Brighton and Hove now. I'd recommend Patcham and Withdean areas (as suggested above). Surrenden Crescent (western end, junction with London Road) is generally pretty empty, not much in the way of residents parking (big houses with drives), and close to the 5 and 5A bus route (next to Withdean Park)

Free parking on the sidestreets around Aldrington station, pot luck if you find a space, of course!

You can park in front of my house for free. 5b bus into town is 30 sec walk away. Pm me if of interest. Bus is 15 mins into town.

Not enforced due to it being in a Marina - regularly leave my car there for weekends away sailing.

Alternatively try Withdean Park & Ride.

If you're headed north you can catch the bus from the shelters off a23. I think busses 5a will take you onto the city.

Just park in Hanover/Elm grove area, last central area without residents parking (mostly students/greenies and pizza boxes/rubbish filled streets and walk across the level and your in North Laine!.
