Welcome to EASY COFFEE
Discussion
Recent discussions in this house regarding the likes of Starbucks brings us nicely to Easy coffee. Yup, that's the same boss stellious (Excuse spelling)He has decided to set up his own chain of coffee shops and the first one has now opened in Southend on Sea, Essex As an 'Easy' Company of course it means cut price product and at £1.00 for a cup of standard coffee maybe Easy will start biting into the big players. The coffee costs Easy around 10p a cup add the other ingredients and it rounds up to 27p cup. No doubt fixed overhead and labour have not been made public nd not included in the 27p.

My guess is that stellious will once again build a successful Company with a loyal band of customers. The big question is how will the tiny independants fare ?
Given that teashops are not the same, and that the big brands built the silliness that the coffee market is today, I must say that I really don't care about tiny independent bandwagon jumpers. Especially cold brewed Sandinista hipster shops.SpamDisco said:
I think Starbucks already do a filter coffee for £1 and Pret do one for 99p, Easy coffee will have to drop their prices to undercut them.
Starbucks lost our custom (don't care how low the price goes!) since we paid nearly £3 each for coffee that was lukewarm. 2 further attempts to supply hot coffee and still they couldn't do it, resulting in my comment of "if you're worried about us burning ourselves then don't be! I WANT hot coffee - I will even sign a disclaimer if you want me to" Will never step in there again.I've become quite a fan of McD's black coffee for £1.29. It's got a decent strong taste to it in 'regular' size, just how I like it. Unfortunately the 'large' size of same is like piss water and I think that's all they do is add more water and no extra coffee to balance it. I rarely buy it anywhere else as I think more than £1.50 for a simple black coffee is a rip-off.

Bandwagon jumpers!! do you mean new competitors in a market that's dominated by just three majors. Bring on more competition I say.crankedup said:

More competition works. However, they are competitors in a free market economy, so there is none of your heartstring tugging "tiny independent" rubbish. If the UK wants cold coffee at a fiver a paper cup, they will do better than Stelios. I suspect it just wants cheap coffee, in which case it gets the market it deserves. Ho hum, and life rolls on by. The market is big and ugly enough to cater to most tastes, but nobody deserves special status. And yes, that should include paying all the taxes they are legally obliged to. And not a penny more.

It's not rubbish and it's not tugging at heartstrings, most businesses start small after all. I' m sorry that is how you interpret my post. And yes, that should include paying all the taxes they are legally obliged to. And not a penny more.
In my own business I went up against the establishment which was in the form of an innovation way outside of the standard practice and services offered to the public. Most of the industry rejected the innovation but I carried on anyway and drew support. With that support and fifteen years or so later the innovation is the fastest growth area within the sector. Wether it's coffee or coffins I welcome and would encourage tiny competitors.
There's been one outside my office (Soho) for the last few months. This morning I got a decent cappuccino and a pastry for £2 in the heart of the West End. Not bad at all! Myself and colleagues used to to go to the local Starbucks so Easy Coffee seem to have eaten into their market.
