Elusive interior rattle finally eliminated

Since acquiring my MY2014 V8Vs SP10 18 months ago I have had a very irritating squeaky / scrapy rattle which appeared to come from around the dash area towards the left and maybe up a bit. All the usual suspects were dismantled, felt taped and put back together but this noise persisted. It seemed to happen particularly when the body was subjected to torsional forces (asymmetrical bumps, cornering, going down my obliquely steep drive etc.) and varied somewhat according to ambient temperature. The dealer finally localised it to the cant rail area and enquired with the factory about possible causes. It was a known issue with the problem being something to do with the interaction of the windscreen surround and the cant rail. The factory suggested fix is to reinforce this joint with a couple of structural rivets as shown below. This was done by the local AML approved bodyshop (the dealer didn't want to do it) and whilst it sounds a bit amateurish it works. The sound has completely gone and my car is now squeak free and much more enjoyable for it. So if anyone has an annoying rattle that nobody can solve then consider this.

You would think that all dealers would already have been informed of all "known fixes".

So I have added a link to this thread to the Frequently Asked Questions sticky to aid future victims. If anyone else has any other squeak/rattle fixes then do future owners a favour and add them too.
