Any V8V 4.3 owners?
Discussion
I feel compelled to write something in response to the notion that the Prodrive/N400/420 etc limited edition models are potentially no more desirable and worth no more than the standard grey 4.3/4.7 Vantage. History doesn't lie and almost all limited edition cars from most manufacturers see a much better long term residual value and desirability. They are also often a more involved drive, due to performance upgrades and carry the specifications many of us would want.
Anyone who owns an AM enjoys having a product that is different to the run of the mill and which is also hugely desirable. Yes the 4.7 is a better car than the 4.3. However both in technical terms are still leagues ahead of some of the pre Gaydon non special cars. However look at the values of the early 70s and 80s cars now! They carry a very large premium due mainly to perceived desirability and the number produced. The Vantage is a great car produced in relatively large numbers for a manufacturer like AM. I think in time those with limited edition versions will definitely reap the rewards in terms of residual values and in many cases the enjoyment of driving the improved cars.
I drive an N400 in Karussell Orange with Sportshift. I know many would baulk at the colour and the gearbox but for me the hunt for the rare beast was all the more exciting, as I always wanted my first Aston to be that bit more special. I think there are only 5 RHD Orange V8s? If anyone reading this wants one, there aren't any for sale and unlikely to be in the foreseeable future. This reinforces my argument for choosing the rare ones. I'll be at Beaulieu and I bet in the only orange 400 BHP coupe. Simples

Sorry to hijack the thread from the OP!
But would you guys say this:

Is a better purchase then the Prodrive model?

That looks really good VFM and is the 4.7, so yes its a better buy than the Prodrive modded 4.3. But would you guys say this:

Or are you all the 4.7 or even bigger V12V/DBS/DB9 lucky lot? I'm wanting to get my first Aston this year, and it's looking like a 4.3 purely on budget. I'll be doing ca 10k a year and though I appreciate the 4.7 is generally the better car, are there people happy with the 4.3 after this many years? I suppose I should look at private sales too...
I have a 4.3 V8 Sportshift Vantage and I love it. It is my first Aston. It sounds good, it is a great drive, it looks beautiful.
If your budget is offering you the chance to get one, do it.
You wont regret it I promise promise promise you.
You may find yourself taking the long route home a lot.
It is my daily car and it is FUN.

This one was just fired across my radar—unsure about the interior...
but I think it ticks all of the option boxes...
I have that interior and love it. It is a terracotta rather than a scarlet red (Chancellor). The carpets are practical colour. but I think it ticks all of the option boxes...
Did anyone get it?
I have a bit of a different knobs and dials situation, sportsshift, black steering wheel, and don't have red brakes.
Will try to get a photo of mine.

I've found an 06 plate that doesn't have the latest seats but ticks all my boxes. Hope to collect today...
Congratulations Martin.
Really enjoyed your thread, made me get out in mine with a bigger smile on my face.
Your photographs are great.
I took mine through Windsor, Eton and along the A30 from Camberley to beyond Staines last night. We have cars to love and it is spring.
I love the back end of the vantage, it isn't cropped up like a trouser that has fallen out with a shoe.
It comes round and down like Shakira's behind.

I have a 4.3 with the red interior. Its not as fast as the 4.7 and I am looking to move to a V12 but for the UK roads its more than fast enough. I do not track mine however.......
Only thing I will say is if you have it as a DD I hope you dont live near any speed bumps! Fortunately I dont mind taking the longer route to avoid them and having to slow right down!

I've not had a problem with speed bumps in my 4.3 at all. Only thing I will say is if you have it as a DD I hope you dont live near any speed bumps! Fortunately I dont mind taking the longer route to avoid them and having to slow right down!
