Fat rascal! Not a comment but a fruit scone from Betty's tea rooms. You are not too far away as there are branches in Harrogate and York. Remember when you walk, bow your legs a bit, a lot of us have rickets up here and you won't stand out as one of those posh soft southerners.

Got it. What about a bit of gravy down my top? Maybe a bit of coal rubbed on my face to show I've been down pit.

Knowing your love of cake you might be as confused as I was when trying to order a bacon roll from someone who simply couldn't understand what I was saying, then the penny dropped and she said "oh, you mean a bacon cake!".

Yep, a cake was a roll up there (though this was 20 years ago)!
I've never heard of it called just a cake. A tea cake is the right terminology though smile

Ah, but isn't a bacon roll also called a bacon cob around your parts?
Yes, mainly by the older generations though. I find myself alternating between the two depending on who I am with (parents = cob, mates = roll)!

Anything north of Sheffield is the north. To some, anything north of oxford is the north too. I get called a northerner by the London lot and a shandy drinking southerner by the northern lot, but called a hero by everyone (not fat cake eating bastar*)

And anything south of Manchester is the south!

Mcdonalds is the same everywhere in the country and has not failed me yet. Besides, i will be working too early/late to go where these cakes/baps/rolls are sold. I do like the idea of chips and gravy though.

I just bought a house in Worcestershire, which apparently is firmly in Morning Roll territory. Since I learnt to speak many years ago, I have never ever, used the term Morning Roll when referring to a Roll or a Bap. And yet it seems to be widespread across the British Isles.

I'm not starting now, so I'm either going to have to sell the house, or introduce the term Muffin Scuffler to the local dialogue.

I think muffin scuffler is more of a specialist item. So, do you have a garage now to put the vantage?

Yes Paddy, now securely locked up a safe door falling off distance from the Alfa Romeo.

That's good. It's good you don't have your car where you had it before anymore.

On a serious note. If anyone living in or around gods country wants my services while I'm up there, just let me know before the weekend.
