A few simple updates and it'd be ok again.
E.g.:
1. 'unread posts' listed by most recent first
2. 'participated topics' by most recent first
3. Instant access to main sections list - with more items per page (the boxes and other style over substance aren't needed)
4. Make the comments boxes bigger so more content is fitted on each page.
5. Essential it works on Tapatalk. AMOC has to recognise the vast majority of people these days access t'internet via mobile devices not computers.
6. Replace pilchards - they were a recognition of other members appreciation of your contribution to the topic / thanks for help / appreciation of your wit / etc. Maybe if 'likes' accumulated like pilchards it'd work just as well. Plus they should transpose the number of likes for each person across from the old forum to the new one. I'm running out of jokes and can never get back to my previous level!
I guess the new forum's capacity means easier access but that's self-resolved now that people aren't bothering anyway.

I like the idea of 'throwing him a fish'. I tried to log on and got an error and couldn't reset password. Emailed webmaster and taken care of within 24 hours.6. When I first was looking to become an Aston owner I expected it to be the go to site for owners. I quickly found out threads died quickly with little response. I like the new look and wish them the best. I'm sure they'll sort it out. One of the main reasons I moved on was that non-members couldn't post pics. Yes I realize it is the website for the official club but if you want to build your base you need to welcome the non-club member owners too.
Kind of get the same feeling I did when I first visited a Starbucks. Was intimidated by the menu and afraid I might say the wrong thing. A bit more formal over there. I still visit about once a week and will continue to do so.
I have actually just checked it out, more from curiosity given the comments above. It looks quite slick and professional in many ways.
But has one monumental flaw which would lead me to question who built it and how much time they've spent on forums in the past. That flaw is that you can't see a list of recent posts (or not that I could find). I'm not a software developer but I imagine that should have been easy to include from day 1.
Why is that a major flaw (imho)? When you think about it, its being able to see a list like that that creates the forum "community" - by seeing recently active threads people can post their own thoughts on live and interesting topics, which then becomes circular and gives the sense of online conversation. Without that community, the forum becomes a dry and dusty archive.I don't want to search a whole series of sub-folders to find the latest threads and nor does anyone else.
PH has the benefit that, every time you log-in to the Aston Martin section it shows you the list of recently active topics as everything is sorted by date of last posting, rather than tucked away in sub-folders.
AMOC need to correct that urgently in the next few weeks or risk the on-line community there disappearing

Why, oh why, do IT geeks always try to reinvent the wheel just to show how clever they are? And fail massively! There are plenty of free to use forums available that function perfectly.
Please tell me the club didn't pay for that bugger's muddle?

Agree. I believe they wanted to polish it up a bit as befitting the brand. I just hope they aren't too proud to go to outside for assistance. The forum has obviously been designed to look good on a phone or tablet with no thought given to the actual usability and most likely use cases. Typical consultancy copy/paste identikit rubbish. There are a multitude of free open source solutions out there that would look and work better.
