Aston Martin Courtesy Cars
Discussion
Hi, my Vantage is in for its Service at HWM in Walton on Thames in a couple of weeks and I've been offered a courtesy car whilst its in there.
I was just wondering what to expect as a replacement......I suppose a Vanquish is out of the question? ....although as its a prestige marque do owners want or expect a quality courtesy car in return? I was wondering if you expressed an interest in an upgrade to a new model whether they would give let you have one hoping you would eventually buy it?.....I know Porsche do it as my mate had one..
Cheers for your thoughts. ...

If you have a good relationship with your dealer then it's not something to be coy about.
I wouldn't play the "I'd like to try something in case I might buy it" routine. They appreciate straight talk as long as you appreciate it back! When you really do want to borrow one because you're thining of buying, you want them to know its worthwhile.
When mines in for service, I just ask.
"Shy bairns get nee toys!"
Remember that the usual courtesy car will be a C class Merc or similar so anything you get extra is quite frankly a favour. Sometimes you'll get lucky and other times you won't.
Of the many services and work I have had done, I've only had an Aston three times. Once was offered, the other two I asked.
The first time was when I mentioned I hadn't driven a sportshift. They lent me it, 3 weeks later I bought it. Clever sales guy!
The second time I asked if I could borrow a Rapide S. I made it clear I'm not interested in buying, just fancied the experience. They said they couldn't do it. But when I went to drop my car off, the service rep remembered and made the arrangements. Nice surprise and really enjoyed it.
This time I rang up and asked if there was anything exciting I could have for the day. "Sure, how about a DB11?".
Strats in Wilmslow are pretty cool.
p.s.
I have had many test drives. Thats a different matter. Anytime I ask if I can go our for an hour or so in a car, they always do that. So if a Vanq is what you want to go out with, just ask for a test drive.

HWM are Alfa dealers in addition to Aston. Guess what make of car you'll likely get as a courtesy car?
Having just spent a day at the Millbrook Proving Ground with Alfa Romeo driving the new Giulia Quadrifoglio I'd quite happily take an Alfa for a courtesy car as long as it had 510bhp David.
My Aston dealer usually lends me an Audi A4.
It gets me home but how boring, and there seem to be so many others exactly the same on the road.
At my Mercedes dealer recently, I asked if I might borrow 'something interesting'. The car provided is called, GLA 220 D 4MATIC. Rather than interesting, I think dreadful would be more accurate. So pleased to hand that back.
Slightly off topic as I don't normally bother with courtesy cars, I usually just ask for a lift to the station nearest and improvise.
Anyway, today I dropped my car off at Newport Pagnell for some work. I got a lift to the station from a lovely lady who is Aston Martin's longest currently serving employee. Thirty three years!
No real relevance to the OP but it just shows something about AML that people are happy to work there for so long.
Oh, and Newport Pagnell is well worth a trip. There's a black and red Vanquish S that has a black paint job with a red fleck. Beautiful...

I once got an Evora for a week while my V8V was having the clutch changed under warranty. Didn't want to give it back!
Good answer Lotus just gave me a BMW 120d whilst my Evora is having a few warranty niggles sorted. I preferred it when they gave me an Elise club sport, but the BMW is the usual fare
They had obviously had their sandwiches then before you turned up at NP. LOL

I had a Jeep Cherokee from Walton Aston.
Not quite what I had in mind from Chiltern Aston though, a knackered Corsa was their offering!
Well the upshot was that I got a Jeep Grand Cherokee......nice enough I suppose and with lots of bells and whistles on it and looks ok but is it worth around 30k? I'm not sure I'd pay that for one. Not quite what I had in mind from Chiltern Aston though, a knackered Corsa was their offering!
Anyway, a "trade" price service was £780....I hope I won't need too many of those!
