Aston Martin Courtesy Cars

Well the upshot was that I got a Jeep Grand Cherokee......nice enough I suppose and with lots of bells and whistles on it and looks ok but is it worth around 30k? I'm not sure I'd pay that for one.
Anyway, a "trade" price service was £780....I hope I won't need too many of those!

Oh and you also have to pay for your own insurance cover!
Yeah, I've experienced that where I went for my last service. Very frustrating as the insurance company ask loads of questions and you don't know what car you're insuring until the day before and don't know how long you'll need it for. Best to insure it for a whole week rather than faff about trying to extend cover when you realise you car will won't be ready for a few more days.Oh and you also have to pay for your own insurance cover!
Classic case of " its who you know and not what you know" lucky you. Hope you enjoyed it which I'm sure you did.

Wow.....you must be a very good customer!
Re insurance.....I was initially asked to bring £20 for insurance but they never took it off me in the end.....they also didn't expect me to replenish the fuel in the courtesy car.

I don't think I have the words to describe just how amazing it really is. The power from the engine, the noise, the steering. It must be one of he best cars on the road today.Clumsy said:

Agreed I think so too albeit I would prefer the Vanquish S myself. Saw both togeather at Bicester Scramble in January and the Vanquish S really is a mean looking beast alongside the DB11.
Sadly though the 11 does get a slating from some purists because they don't like the Mercedes bits in it. All I say to that is " its called progress" move on.
I am sure there will be some awesome Aston's emerging from the stables over the next few years under Dr Palmers reign.

I'm not overly bothered as long as they do a good job for a fair price. Nicholas Mee don't have any courtesy cars but will run you home/pick you up for £25; Fairfax who are much closer and brilliant at diagnostics have a diesel Golf. It works, is more comfortable and the mpg is ridiculous so I use it as much as I can!
If I'm honest, I don't get the 'gutted' or similar comments, you get a courtesy car so that's good isn't it? It would sure make me appreciate my own car back and not leave me wanting something else. When I had my Vantage back in the day I wasn't expecting fellatio and I was really chuffed that the service manager let me have her own Jag XF to use and let me keep it for a week as a problem had arisen with my car.
Tbh I just look at getting home and then back again and avoiding taking 2 cars so “ almost anything” will do - I’m not test driving it to buy.
When my Exige needed it’s first service they gave me a battered old A4 with 100k on the clock and said don’t bother to refill it.
It all worked.

Exactly this. I know I’m probably in the minority here, but I usually get a bus after I’ve dropped mine off at my local AM MD. There is a bus stop right outside and it’s two short journeys to get home. They sometimes offer me a lift to the station, as I never ask for a car, but it is actually more of an awkward journey by train. I’ve never been bothered about having a courtesy car with any of the cars I have owned over the years. I guess it may not fit in with the perception some may have of an Aston Martin owner, but it just doesn’t bother me at all. When my Exige needed it’s first service they gave me a battered old A4 with 100k on the clock and said don’t bother to refill it.

I don’t think it’s the courtesy car conversation but more so the bus that some may say doesn’t fit with perception ! I’ll get my coat………….

But I’m more surprised that they don’t offer to run you home if it’s just a short journey.
Works I think I’ve tried all the options over the years of either borrowing a car ( usually a Mercedes’ which I have to insure ) or their collection service or borrowing a demo car - all depends on what is the least hassle for me and in fairness them too.
Occasionally if we then go on shopping then my wife is happy to bring along another car.
I favour the collection service obvs.

Now that is going too far. Buses are for students and poor people!Seriously though, as I said earlier, I agree with alscar and macdeb. Does it really matter what they give you? Here’s a story to illustrate the point……Many many years ago a good friend of mine bought a 512TR. It was a lovely car but it was an electrical nightmare and it broke down and had to be trailered back to the dealer, who also sold TVRs. The car was repaired, but one of the wheels was damaged on the trailer, and they wanted to keep it for another week to get a new wheel. They offered him a Chimera for a week which he was more than happy with, but as a good will gesture, as he had a Ferrari, they wheeled out their brand new F355 GTS demonstrator, resplendent in yellow, with one of those new fangled F1 gearboxes. Chimera or 355…..you can guess which one he chose. Anyway, to cut a long story short, he had a bad accident in it just before he had to return it, and it was written off and all sorts of aggro ensued.
It put me off both Ferraris and courtesy cars for life!
Best Regards
