Following advice received from this forum, I now have all my tyre changes done by a firm who use equipment, that can remove and fit a tyre without making contact with wheels.

Certainly would not trust a multi-outlet firm, where employee standards are possibly variable.

Do you guys who use Kwik Fit have a relationship with a particular garage as I'm not sure I would trust a generic Kwik Fit with my p&j....especially as I not long ago had my wheels refurbished?
I have never used them before and have no experience of their service.....perhaps I am doing them an injustice....just curious!!

Cheers,
Geoff.
I'll be reading the riot act beforehand wink
A chap I know used this particular Kwikfit and they hand torqued the wheel nuts, show's some care.
Just FYI, Kwik Fit do not (and haven't for a long time) used air guns for wheel removal/refitting. It's all done by hand. smile

And lift it correctly or I'll get Lucille.....
True, I'll have the 'how to jack' workshop page with me too.

My experience of Kwik fit over the last 7 years is that they like having the Aston or Ferrari etc in and as soon as I arrive the boss takes over and does the job himself with the help of one of the other lads.

Diamond cut wheels or anything else Ive never had even tiniest of a mark.

I take my own black weights and always remind them about jacking points on a Vantage.

Everything is then hand torqued up.

I dont think you can find a machine that touches alloys in 2017.

What?!
Cheapest I can find for a pair or rears is £590.
Dealer quoted me £720.

I'll call my local kwikfit tomorrowsmile
Make sure you check the age of the tyres. Just went to have mine replaced on my daily driver, and they had ordered a set manufactured in 2012, i.e., at the limits of their shelf-life. Rejected them and ordered another set.

My answer to your question is yes, but have I missed something, because the discussion is about tyres, tyre fitters and risk of wheel damage?

New rubber fitted at Kwikfit - lads were courteous & knowledgeable, really impressed.
Wheel nuts all torqued correctly too.
£200 cheaper than the main dealer quoted!

If you want it to look like new take warm water with non bio washing powder in it and use a cloth on the wheel using a motion like you are towel drying your back. Repeat with clear water and the result is amazing

Had kwikfit fitt 2 new tyres to the golf gti today - used the mobile service. Very professional - took great care in handling the wheels and torqued bolts up with hand torque wrench. I asked the fitter to get me a quote for two rears (corsas) for the v12s - £455 including fitting with the mobile service. These are £80- £100 cheaper per tyre than anywhere else I've had quote. Fitting tyres next week. and no concerns over the calibre of the tyre fitter Thanks for the post on the great deal by kwikfit

I was looking for new tyres for the wifes daily (2010 Citroen C5 3.0 HDi mapped to 300bhp) and wanted Michelin Pilot Sports in 245/40/19 Y.

I looked on the net and got prices and then rang Kwik Fit for a laugh and was amazed to see the prices were about the same as the online prices. I've got my own tyre machine so usually do mail order through Black Circles. Kwik Fit were only a tenner more per tyre and it saved me a load of hassle.

Speaking to the centre manager whilst I was there, he said that Kwik Fit realised their tyres were overpriced before and they were loosing a lot of business to the online companies so they've massively reduced the price of them. smile

Nice to know as the Range Rover is almost due a set of 4 and I really can't be bothered fitting them myself.

David.
