I understand the OBD is connected to a gismo (garage specialist equipment) that keeps the car ecu alive while the battery is disconnected - the disconnected battery dis arms the airbags.
It takes about 20 minutes.
Oh, no re-programming required.

It is accurate, and I've got the ordering form if you'd like to get a steering wheel from Q. The GT12 steering wheel is its own item, not a Q offering. Requesting a modified OEM steering wheel would be handled by Q, and that's where the cost skyrockets.
I've just finished the ordering process and it wasn't anywhere near that price (the Q product, not the GT12 wheel). C997 said:

I'd love to know more about this, because I'm not the only person that's been given a ridiculous price for a steering wheel done by Q.Flugplatz said:
"Works" tell me the correct part number for the Alcantara wheel to fit 2015 V12S Vantage with cruise and phone control is ED23-3600-AAW £2524.28 plus vat
That's.... a lot.Sorry, am I being really stupid here ?
Why are people even considering getting Q to re-trim a wheel when an aftermarket can do it just as well no doubt for a couple of hundred quid ?
Maybe I've totally missed something, but £165 vs £1-2k.........unless you have more money than Oprah then you'd need your bumps read

Depends on the customer. Some customers want only-OEM items, so any personal touches have to be done by Q. I looked into it because I was ordering an OEM alcantara steering wheel for my grey V8V and simply wanted a different color stitching, same with a customer that asked me about it for his car (I'm getting a custom/non-Q job done on the steering wheel in my red V8V). I've seen some incredible work done by third-party companies, but some people won't put anything non-OEM in their cars.

I'm also someone who values OEM kit, but not at 10 times the cost. When it comes to re-trimming a steering wheel then IMHO OEM is irrelevant. As long as it's done properly even the keenest eye would never know.Pay your money you take your choice, that I understand, but I could be worth more than Warren Buffet and I'd still see zero value on any front in paying that kind of money to have a simple steering wheel re-trim
I'm right there with you! I've got the matching all-black alcantara steering wheel and shift knob/shift boot in my grey car, but I'll be doing a custom wrap for the one in my red car. Going to make it thicker, too - I like the meaty grip of an M3's steering wheel and I'll be aiming for that.
One other thing to keep in mind is that a lot of people don't use forums - they'll go to a vendor (usually directly to a dealership) and ask the cost to have something done. If the price they're given is their only data point, they'll have no idea of how expensive it is, relatively speaking, or how it compares to an aftermarket job.

My v12v has red contrast stitching on black interior. I know it sounds daft, but it bugs me that the stitching at the top of the alcantara steering wheel is black. I feel it should match the red contrast stitching in the rest of the car.... it would look great in red and be a good reference for centre steer point.
I guess to have this changed would just cost the earth... but IMHO should be done by AM to match in the first place.
