I enjoyed it; the DB11 part was fun. The presenters look like they're having a good laugh doing it as well.
Sabine's manic laughter was a joy as well.
The star in a reasonably fast car was painful, that said Tamsin Greig appeared to have as much personality as a used teabag.

They have to do the star interview and the left field muck spreader stuff to keep it a family show or global viewing figures would drop to the point of its extinction if its only watched by car enthusiasts.

I think tonight they blended it well and although we might not like watching Matt Le Blanc on LSD mashing melons it allows us to enjoy the great DB11 segment and Sabine in the Golf.

I will be watching the rest of the series which hasn't happened since William Woolard left biggrin

Agree, I enjoyed the DB11 section, especially the subtitles, and Sabine is also good value.

Really didn't like Athens Volvo bit but that what's great about watching on catch up - you just fast forward smile

I happened to think Episode 3 was the best yet, loads of humour (although it's obviously all planned out...)

Really didn't get the muck spreader bit, neither funny or informative?

Still laughing at Dr No-Hair. And the Italian Job references.

I do understand that they have to appeal to all sorts to get the figures for the program..... But my mrs hates the program, which to me, proves that being idiots does not attract the femail gender, contrary to what the idiots at the bbc think.
Chris is a fantastic driver, and he has youtubes on just about every car worth driving............and he is sensible on all his own tests.
Shouting and balling, i'm sure is not his thing when teaching on the top gear track. You can see he is uncomfortable with it.
Rory is uncomfortable with trying to tell jokes all the time.
Matt's db11 was great until Chris turns up trying to hard to be funny, and shouting to much......

Just calm it down a bit, be sensible, do some good stuff!!!!!!!
And it will vastly improove.
Somehow though, I just don't think the bbc are capable of seeing where they are going wrong anymore.........
Just watch points of view, they never except that they just could be wrong in some of the directions they are going.

Starting to love the new TopGear show. I think Amazon ant the Grand Tour have a lot to worry about.

Give it a couple more series for these guys to gel and I reckon this will be a good programme. I prefer it to the Grand Tour

Last nights episode was quite good and funny too with " The Stig " in his Bentley.

Hopefully they did not blow the entire series budget on that episode and the rest will be crap.

Filming quality is excellent but the interaction between the Chris and Matt is so wooden and badly acted. You knew the old three were working a script but they pulled off the cruelty to each other and the general buffoonery in a way that way almost real and funny most the time. Needs more childishness, political incorrectness and the actors need to suffer some pain and indignation if you ask me. Glad to have SKY to be able to scoot through celeb stuff and crap cars playing PacMan.

I'm not a hater, but everyone who's loving the new TG, with the exception of the presenters, what's new or more interesting? Exact same 15 year old, tired format even down to the pointless, oh so close and dramatic race. Please, with all the creative talent and huge licence fee budget, surely they can come up with 1 original idea. It's the same show, presented by less charismatic personalities. BBC are taking us for a ride redcard

To be fair it's a car programme. So it needs to be about cars

And the funny thing about cars is that they don't do much other than "drive". (Unless you're James Bond). That is quite limiting to a) scenes of cars driving and b) the odd race (against diverse things). I agree after so many seasons they can't going to be constantly inventing new ways of doing this, but I'd rather have TG than no TG

It's also a little harsh to say the BBC are taking us for a ride, I believe TG is a major earner for the BBC and helps subsidise other programme making

Yes I get the whole "it's a car show" thing and that naturally limits the creative content, but even so, they mixed things up in 2002 and completely revamped the old magazine format. Are we saying now that's it...there is literally nothing new. That format was very predictable and tired and needed a refresh several years ago The only thing holding it together were the 3 stooges.

I felt the bias needle had swung back towards "car" and away from "pre-pubescent boy's behaviour".

Didn't watch it last night though.

Quite enjoying the new show and it being a bit more focused on cars than farting around.

It'll never happen but I'd like to see them bring Clarkson back as the person in the reasonably fast car to set a lap time, since he's supposedly never done one. Be nice to know if he's anywhere near as good as he thinks he is.

Not possible smile

(I speak as someone who likes him. Or at least his written journalism. His column in Performance Car really helped fuel my interest in cars. And he's from just down the road from me and hence proved anything was possible).

ah those were the days smile

He used to write some tremendous stuff for Performance Car, was a very sad moment for me when that magazine got folded into "Car"

My solution is to record the show and then use fast forward to skip the "celebrity" part and any other boring sequence smile
Anyway, I reckon this season is an improvement compared to last year...

Ditto. I found Chris Harris' Chiron drive from Dubai to the Jebel Akdhar in Oman fascinating. That area was my stamping ground almost sixty years ago when there were no metalled roads or runways in the Arabian Peninsular. The only way to transport goods up the Jebel was by donkey or in one of our Twin Pioneers.
