That area was my stamping ground almost sixty years ago when there were no metalled roads or runways in the Arabian Peninsular. The only way to transport goods up the Jebel was by donkey or in one of our Twin Pioneers.
Fifty five years ago we used to take our Canberras to Sharjah from Cyprus for 2 weeks, flying low level over the whole of the Trucial Oman States - featureless desert with no GPS! We used to drive into Dubai along the beach from Sharjah as there wasn't a road. I have personally fired 2 inch rockets on a range that is now Dubai International Airport!
Seeing what has become of this country in the intervening years was fascinating.

...Be nice to know if he's anywhere near as good as he thinks he is.
Not possible smile

(I speak as someone who likes him. Or at least his written journalism. His column in Performance Car really helped fuel my interest in cars. And he's from just down the road from me and hence proved anything was possible).
ah those were the days smile

He used to write some tremendous stuff for Performance Car, was a very sad moment for me when that magazine got folded into "Car"
yes

I remember my first issue. I had a Volvo 360 GLS and Holden Motors in Norfolk had developed a bodykit for it. It was the front cover picture on Performance Car!!!

I think I may still have issue 1...or at least some very early ones, in my mum and dad's loft smile

I remember he once did an article on sunglasses that had me in stitches.

I'm not a hater, but everyone who's loving the new TG, with the exception of the presenters, what's new or more interesting? Exact same 15 year old, tired format even down to the pointless, oh so close and dramatic race. Please, with all the creative talent and huge licence fee budget, surely they can come up with 1 original idea. It's the same show, presented by less charismatic personalities. BBC are taking us for a ride redcard
Keep seeing this posted. New presenters, new format (no news, SIARPC different etc), new studio...

confused

Do you get angry because Coronation Street is still set in Coronation Street?
