The new Vantage?
Discussion
Went to the preview day last Saturday. It’s such a tremendous improvement over the previous one.
I would never have considered the silver window trim and silver grille, but it really works on this car, sort of retro modern. Also the green leather interior is stunning and the seats really grippy and comfortable as well. The bronze-ish wheels look fantastic in the metal and go really well with this silver.
Base price is AUD$425k (GBP 219k). This spec is AUD$600k (GBP 309k).

Hi Davil - thanks for posting those pictures. Is that Aluminite Silver...I can't quite tell? I've seen Aluminite in person and it has a slightly warm tone. I am preferring a more classic spec myself for this Vantage - silver window surrounds and grille are the way to go.
The base price should be $410k in Australia. Maybe they included a $15k dealer delivery fee to what you were quoted?
I am glad you were impressed.

I’m surprised no one has replied to this today. That does look rather nice indeed, but £90,000 worth of options. Wow. That’s an additional 41% on top of the list price (in Australia as per the example). To be fair though, LS does like the 40% business model………did they tick every single box?!
BRM.
BRM.
Aston Martin prices in Australia are quite a puzzle to us Brits.
£309,000 for a well specced Vantage !
I tried to find out how it works, but as usual with tax (make it as confusing as possible) probably not easy to fathom.
There is something about a Privileged person purchase, but that might not be describing people who buy Aston Martins, it could be to do with diplomats.
GST seems to be like our VAT (although at half the rate) 10%
Then there appears to be an additional special 33% tax (LCT), applicable to vehicles worth more than about £45,000.
Whether they use the UK double fuel tax trick, I don't know but if so, hopefully the GST is in the calculation before the LCT (Luxury Car Tax), not the other way round.
For every 1,000
GST .......... 100
................ --------
................. 1,100
LCT ........... 363
................ --------
................. 1,463
In the UK it would be 1,000 plus 20% VAT = 1,200.
I still don't know how (UK equivalent) £309,000 is arrived at.
Do the Australian taxes limit the new sales of premium cars ?

"New" V12 for the win versus new V8.
The new V8 is a lovely thing and I'd have one tomorrow versus a 911. But it has an AMG V8 and AMG steering wheel and lots of other AMG bits. And a fancy new dash and entertainment. Its looks are inspired by the V12.
The V12 has a proper Aston V12, turbo'd yes but sounds incredible and is an occasion every time it's fired up. It has the amazing horseshoe carbon bonnet and fancy front brake duct cooling along with the GT3 style exhaust and diffuser. Proper carbon buckets same as the new one.
The V12 dash and ICE is very dated but who cares if its a weekend ride and not a DD. When did you last hear F40/F50 owners whinging about the stereo lol?

Not sure about dealer delivery but I reckon you may be right.

Astons do suffer way less depreciation than the UK though. They can also be driven year round and don’t rust. Maybe that justifies us paying much more. Maybe.

Cements my thoughts, those wheels are my first choice and so glad they're an option and away from bloody diamond cut black options

I wonder if these new inflated prices will make the value of used AM increase?

good question.
I think they have also a influnce to VH based Astons too.
Well it's certainly not influenced my part-ex values yet, but doesn't appear to have affected values of cars for sale, so all in all a Netzero change. I think they have also a influnce to VH based Astons too.
Obviously 6 months after I sell/buy values of the 'classic' Vantage will sky rocket like a 1of10 Ferrari and values of the next gen car will plummet like a luxury EV SUV.
New Vantage presentation in Antwerp (B).
Hi all,
went to the presentation of the new Vantage on 16/3/2024. See below some pictures of what was there to see... . The Belgian owner of the Victor also had some of his toys there (Victor, DB5 goldfinger recreation...). He has a great collection including all the recent Zagato versions...
Anyway, did find the DB12 Volante also nice.
Cheers,
