RE: Buying a DB7
Discussion
I love the DB7 not only for its looks - which, I'm sorry, are second only to the Jaguar XK120 in the 'most gorgeous thing ever attached to four wheels' competition, but because it is simultaneously exotic and vaguely justifyable/attainable.
The DB7 reminds me of the DBS - started off with an underpowered 'six', which was then replaced by a much bigger and more powerful, yet thirstier, heavier and less wallet-friendly engine. As a result, the market for DBSs has split down the middle - you can pick up a 6-cylinder for under £10k, but if you want a DBSV8, you have to fork out over twice that.
IMO the DB7 will perform the same trick. I remember reading a classic car market prediction that reckoned the 6-cylinder DB7 will end up vying with the comparable Jaguar XK8 whilst V12 Vantage prices will firm up much higher than that.
The 6-cylinder DB7 is the most useable, least thirsty and cheapest to run Aston Martin out there, and as someone who spent their teenage years salivating at it, I just hope that it's still affordable if I ever have the money to buy one.
Thanks Andrew - another top buyer's guide.

I am planning on buying a 3.2 DB7 for around £35,000, from chiltern Aston probably. What i want to try and find out is how much will the DB7 be worth in about 7 years time?, I have heard that the value could rise for them, does anyone know by how much this could be? Also a yearly figure for cost from current/previous owners of DB7 3.2's would be of great help.
Oh and i agree that there is nothing that can touch the DB7 for its looks.
Many thanks in advance!!!

To continue, I was pleasantly suprised to get insurance qoutes for less than £2000 fully comp, especially seeing im not over 30 and live on a normal street with no garage. I would like if possible the DB7 to be any of these colours:
Silver
Blue
Aston green (very unlikly though)
British Racing Green (again unlilkly)
It seems that any Red DB7's are cheaper than other DB7's, while silver or blue are higer priced. Is there a good reason for this? I would rather have a silver or green and don't mind paying a couple of grand more though, i just wondered why this is.
Sorry about my inexperience, this will be my first time buying a car like this after running normal family hatchbacks, so ive got to be sure of what im buying!
Again to current or previous owners of the DB7 (I could google this but i find it much more satisfying to hear from actual experience, i hope no-one minds all these questions)
How approx much to fill a 3.2 tank up?
Is the tyre wear problems i have been hearing about really that bad?
How much for a new set of tyres, and where to get them from?
Where do you get you're DB7 serviced?
What has gone wrong most (if anything has) on you're DB7?
Auto or manual?, does one cost more than the other to service?
I plan to buy this car in late 2007
Again, many thanks

Yeah i know!!,
I have been planning for a while, originally i was going for XK8 or a Merc SLK, but thought i would like something a bit more distinctive. I have other things to take care of and i will not be at home much for about a year so it makes sense to wait. I really have to carefully think it through though, spending upwards of 30k on a car is something not to be rushed!!!! I also have to wait untill im 25 for insurance reasons!

you are not alone and therefore are answering your own question
I bought my DB7 (Mendip Blue-www.sportscarselfdrive.co.uk)about 18 months ago too but I an not in love with it and have not performed any carnal acts on it.
I would however love to know why I cannot stop the front suspesion from making a terrible noise over speed bumps.
I have change springs, dampers and top bushes (I was a bit more in love with it before that bill)
Incidently Asset Trust will insure a '95 DB7 as a classic for £433 (3000 miles £500 xs)
