I have had a letter of intent to Aston for a year now and have just spoken to the dealer who tells me that the AMV8, contrary to what they first thought, will not be available until the very end of 2005 possibly even 2006, so a long wait ahead! I am sure it will be worth it though!

Interesting. Although I had a letter of intent, I got a letter from the dealer saying that I had to place a deposit. Given the length of time, and the fact that they weren't prepared to hold it in an interest bearing escrow, I told them where to stick that request! Are you saying you are still on the "list" but haven't paid a deposit?

All you can do is send a letter of intent, a deposit shouldn't be asked for and if you offer one it should be refused, as far as I know

I spoke to my Aston dealership, Grange of Welwyn, only yesterday and I am quite high up on the list but as no details are known yet no deposits are taken yet. He said yesterday the car hadnt even been signed off yet to become a production car, so effectively its still a concept car so the dealer in question is trying it on me thinks! The dealer did say he has been told it will be built but has been put back until late 2005.

And what with it still being a concept and the workers going on strike, who knows if it will even happen now

Many Aston Dealers are taking deposits and will only put you on the list on that premise. Not only that but anyone who submitted a letter of intent but did not pay the deposit has now slipped to the bottom of the queue apparently.

Note "Aston Martins" official policy and recommendation to their dealers is not to take deposits, but they have no power over the dealers to stop them.

I have had my deposit of 3K with Sevenoaks Dealer since March. I will stomach the loss of interest on 3K I think, though I cant say I am that happy about having to place a deposit this early.

That's the best news I've heard all year. A while ago I bought a number plate from the DLVA specifically to sell to some city type when this car was launched.

V8 VTG.

Can't wait to start advertising. Does anyone know how much I think I shall advertise it for??
